stay in a car, lock on with machine gun, now move forward and back while holding down the firing button, switch channel and watch a movie, come back in 5 minutes.

Definitely a fun gun, I got that one from repairing a claptrap. He opened up a door that let me loot a gun chest. I used that until I got to level 36 where I found a pistol that does better damage, but no elemental attack. I miss watching the baddies melt though, so I want another one to come up soon.

Pah…that Mothrakk thing is pretty much two-shotting me at level 21. The rest have been pretty easy, but that one is kicking my ass.

Sledge’s Shotgun.

For serious.

The knockback on that gun is great fun. I was holding a staircase with a friend in a challenging encounter. I kept shooting the Badass off the stairs, and he’d fly off 30 feet away, till my friend plinked off the remainder of the horde.

There’s a bandit camp nearby, clear that, and then kite Moth boy over to it, find a building you can go inside, fire a couple shots with weapon of choice then duck inside.

Lather.
Rinse.
Repeat.

Takes a little while to kill, but can be done.
Far easier than “Greater challenges that lie ahead”

I found my first ultra-rare white gun today, in Fyrestone on the second playthrough. Unfortunately, it’s a repeater with the defining characteristic merely that it has a very large clip size. It’s nowhere near as impressive as my green shotgun that’s 11 levels lower. That could just be because I’m specialised in shotguns, though.

I’m going to try to transfer it to my pistol-specialised Brick to see if it’s any more exciting in his hands.

Do you mean orange? Because I’m pretty sure white is common.
(I think it goes: white - green - blue - purple -orange)

No. It goes white < green < blue < purple < dark orange < bright orange < light orange < white.

The rare white is still listed at the very top of your list of weapons when in your inventory, above any oranges. I think they did it just to make people paranoid about checking every little loot drop again once they realise they could be accidentally missing the best gun ever.

I’m glad I found that out. I didn’t even know there were multiple orange shardes. I’m still on my first playthrough and I haven’t even seen any orange yet, but I definitely would have been blindly chucking any whites I found.

You’ll most likely keep blue-orange level backup weapons in your inventory so it’d be tough to miss a white at the top.

Keep your high level shock weapons you find around level 30+

Trust me on that. I had a hunter with me for the final level but if he didn’t have shield penetration, we would have gotten slaughtered many times over. Even my shock SMG was fairly useless.

Holy shit. I’ve been leaving white weapons on the ground.

Grrr.

Just look at the price tag of the weapon. That’s how I pick things up.

You got the oranges backwards I think. The darker the orange the better the gun is.

Crap. Here I though those different orange hues were either my eyesight going, or one of Gearboxes’ many UI mistakes.

Colours seem almost random when greens can be superior to equal and higher level epics. That’s a bit whacky with the random gun generator.

I think it’s because the level of the gun has preference over the color of the gun. A level 40 white shotgun is going to be better than a level 25 purple shotgun.

It’s also true that a high-end green can be better than pretty much any purple at the same level. The 79x12 double-barrelled shotgun I mentioned elsewhere dropped quite early on, around level 16 or so, and I simply haven’t found anything that does that raw amount of flesh-soupification since. Even an orange shotgun with an explosive x2 effect doesn’t do nearly as much damage, although it did have a much larger clip and better accuracy, so I use that instead now.

I would have thought a colour like red would have been a better choice instead of pearlescent, although I guess that would clash with the red background for unusable weapons. Man, I might have missed a pearlescent already.

The pearlescents are odd and some of them are basically rubbish except for the money you get for them. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
