Geometry Wars 2: The 'I just beat your score' thread

Let me start this off. LonelyGeekFest (biclops): I just beat your Deadline score yesterday.

MartyrSaint (JoshV): I probably shouldn’t tell you this, since you own me in every single game type in this game except one, but I did beat your score in Sequence, and I’m now the top score in Sequence on my friends list. You’re the only one ahead of me in Deadline and Waves, and I’ve been trying for months now to beat you, but at some point I’m going to start pretending you don’t exist.

It’s on!

At least it will be in 2-3 weeks, I just sent my 360 back for repair yesterday.

Two game modes that I’m constantly putting off are Pacifism and King. I finally put some time into pacifism last week, and I have no idea how you people above me (and there are a fuckload of you, seriously, you’re all amazing) have all developed these 'leet ninja pacifism skills.

I haven’t touched GW2 since it was The Big Thing over the summer, but last I checked I was second only to biclops on my friends list for Pacifism. And frankly, there is no secret. None at all. You will accidentally get an insane score. Then in your next five games you’ll get 2k.

This has been my experience. Occasionally you will do wickedly awesome for no apparent reason. Occasionally.

Maybe nothing you do on a conscious level. But your brain is surely learning and reacting differently. This happens a lot in racket sports like Table tennis, Tennis, squash, racquetball, etc. The more you play, the more you practice certain shots, the more your brain gets used to the millions of calculations involved as the ball sails through the air. You don’t have to teach people specifically about slices and forward spin. They start picking it up on an unconscious level just through practice.

I think my breakthrough in pacifism will occur when my brain figures out how pay enough attention to the gates and the speed of the blue enemies and when I need to make my move.

I guess what I’m saying is. You don’t realize it, but your brain is fucking brilliant at this game Bahimiron.

I donno. I think that one might not apply to Pacifism. I think maybe your brain might be brilliant at it for moments at a time. Cos trust me, whatever my score was, I followed it up with a 50 point game. :P

Damn you Fraz…damn you. =)

Now i might have to check my scores and see if i can move ahead, but i’m already captivated by other games!

Shhhh. Nothing to see here Josh. Move along. Keep playing your other games.

I’ll let you know when something important happens. Like if I actually beat your Deadline score or your Waves score.

You’re going to make me play this thrice-damned game again.

I almost didn’t survive the last time.

Pacifism has been my favorite mode in Geometry Wars 2, and I don’t agree that it’s in any way based on luck. The reason my scores tend to vary wildly is that my rate of error does the same, as far as i can tell.

Such a beautiful, beautiful game.

I’m not sure this actually makes a lot of sense.

I need a decent friends list for this game. add me (ID on the left)

The top Pacifism score on my friends list is like 363 million. I’m not even remotely close to that.

I can tell, because Pacifism is the only mode I have a higher score for than you.

That means you don’t have Jab4815162342 on your friends list. I believe his pacifism score is the highest on my list. It’s just short a billion.

I have a strict rule about people with more numbers than letters in their gamertags not being in my friends list. :)

To be fair to Jab, those are the numbers from ‘Lost’ the TV show, not his actual numbers here at Qt3.

You guys are going to force me to post under my real name at some point :)

That pacifism score is my plateau for now, it’s going to take a few weeks of constant playing to get my reflexes back up to that level to get a better score.

I suppose if your real name has numbers in it, I’ll feel pretty embarrassed. :)
