Ghost Rider would kick Dare Devil's Ass

Just as Kiefer would kick Affleck’s.

Ghost Rider was my favorite comic as a kid. That flaming skull was an early hint that I would be a fan of anti-heroes in fiction as I grew up. I don’t know what miserable CGI garbage they are going to pull to film it accurately. I hope it is better than Spiderman was with the CGI, mask removals and the rest. I know many of you liked, but it was all too fakey for my liking.

Keifer as Ghost Rider after his stint as a mean, bitter, rat bastard hero in 24 would be pure gold.

Keifer would be a lot better than Nic Cage who was talking about being in the role.

As far as Spidey, yeah the CGI was not great but being a fan of the character I enjoyed the fact they didn’t alter Peter very much. They respected the source material for a change instead of pissing all over it like normal.

I don’t see why any actor with a career comeback in motion would want to spend valuable “hot property” time playing that role unless the character was redesigned to have a flaming face rather than a flaming skull. I mean the guy is all leather and a flaming skull. What is the actor supposed to do? It would basically be a voiceover animation assignment, unless most of the movie took place before his conversion.

Okay, Keifer did a good voiceover job on the Armitage III dub, but that was before 24… You’d think he’d want a role where you can see his face. Actors tend to like that kinda thing.

Kiefer is doing the voicework for Phone Booth. I think he has one scene with his face, as he was a near-last-minute replacement, from what I’ve heard.

It’s been a while since I read the comic, but doesn’t Ghost Rider have a regular-joe alter-ego, and only transforms for short periods, kind of like the Hulk? I can see someone wanting to take that role, because you’d be onscreen a lot. You’d just have your face covered during the few superhero sequences. Not that different from Spider-Man, really.

He may have signed that contract before the buzz on 24 had hit, much the same way that the Farrelly Bros. were able to get Carrey for a song because they inked the deal before The Mask hit big.

Yeah, Ghost Rider had a human alter-ego, and only became the “spirit of vengance” when some vengence needed meeting out. I do believe in at least one incarnation of the character he touched the “medallion” on his motorcycle and then changed.

Man what a great comic.

I think he turned into Ghost Rider when the sun went down.

Been a long time since I read those, but I think it may have changed over the course of the series. IIRC he has more control over the changes after he gets his soul back from the devil…

It’s kinda hard to belive that Marvel got away with selling comics like SON OF SATAN and GHOST RIDER. You’d think some sort of Tipper Gore-like organizer would have organized a boycott.

I’m pretty sure that’s because a) the market is small compared to music and b) the comic industry (at the time) had a deal with the censorship whackos that because of the CCA, they’d be left alone.

It’s more interesting now that Marvel has left the CCA, but still.
