Uh oh. He’s bucking for prophet!

There’s not big money in being a Mormon leader. Selling worthless books/posters/magazines and 72-hour kits to Mormons however IS big money.

At least he is going out with class.

Opening Serve: Glenn Beck, … was so nauseated by the sight of John McCain’s daughter Meghan’s partially nude body on a PSA for skin cancer that he felt the need to “vomit” several times during his radio show whenever Meghan’s name was mentioned. He also suggested that Meghan cover her skin with a burqa, since it’s the only thing that would fit her.

Then feel free to leave it…

Glenn Beck is a douche…

Huh. Apparently Glenn Beck had his last show on Thursday.

And he closed by whining about Jon Stewart not being as awesome as he is because he talks for 21 minutes just in his monologue and has two writers but Stewart has dozens of writers and his monologue is only 4 minutes.

I think the comparison just demonstrates that funny ain’t easy and beck ain’t (intentionally) funny.

TPM did a great cut of Glenn Beck’s last episode.

As Fox and Beck headed for a divorce, Beck set up his own diversified business. He makes speeches, writes books and owns a website along with GBTV, which is run by a former Fox executive. He will sell access to GBTV for $9.95 a month, or $4.95 for those who only want to see his nightly show.

Seems doomed for failure. I don’t see the Beck audience willing to pay $10 a month to listen to him.

For all of his championing of the common blue collar man and babbling about unemployment … $10 a month? LOLLERSKATES.

I can google time cube and the same ramblings for free!

Just wait until they bill your four-dimensional self.

People pay for his crap books, he may be able to keep that website going until the next election.

Oh god the Youtube comments…

Time magazine has a list op Top 10 Glenn Beck Moments that made me giggle.

He wasn’t the first to use a chalkboard as he claimed. But maybe he’ll be the last.

A farewell letter and review of his books.

The article is a bit of slog in the middle when she summarizes Beck’s book The Christmas Sweater (she should have just called it weird treacle and moved on rather than going plot point by plot point). But I like how she brings up figures like Jim Jones and Hitler, repeatedly, and then says :

I’m not equating him with Hitler, mind you, or Joe Smith or Jim Jones.

Very Beckian.

I think he’ll rake in tons of cash with plenty of upside. He already has 80k subscribers at $7/mo, so he needs another 40k to make up for his Fox contract. If he happens to time it right to ride the wave of the future as old media continues to fade, he could get even more subscribers. We’ll see.
