If we back away from our flawed habit of measuring everything by dollar amounts in the U.S., it’s very notable that despite being a rich person his audience just went from millions to thousands. That’s a win in my book.

H.

It’d be a “win” if he returned to his niche of humor, some social commentary, and an occasional “politicians are crazy, amirite?” rant. I don’t think that’ll ever happen now though.

I had his radio show on recently and it’s godawful. I can’t believe he lets his two sidekicks talk so much, though I guess it’s because he’s juggling so many ventures.

This. He moves from a national platform and a salary to bilking his most credulous fans directly. Not ideal, but I’m OK with it.

Curious about his eventual subscription numbers. And I’m guessing more books will be coming.

Glenn Beck will do fine. And he knows that people will pay $7 a month to listen to his shit. I’d rather pay $7 a month to watch Game of Thrones 4 times, but HBO doesn’t give me that option.

The fact that Glenn Beck understands what most television networks don’t is kind of… funny.

He is in a much better place actually, he can say whatever made-up fearmongering insane dog-whistle racist anti-semetic shit he wants without it being picked up and debunked by responsible MSM and political enemies.

He will be expressly preaching to his shut-in, deluded and helpless choir.

Hallelujah.

(EDIT: I agree with you on the HBO thing)

If you ignore the radio listeners, sure. But by whatever estimations I can find, he has somewhere around 9 million listeners, so his audience isn’t really going down by that much.

It would also help if he wasn’t a FUCKING BATSHIT INSANE CONSPIRACY THEORIST WHO TELLS HIS LISTENERS THE MARXIST-FASCIST-SECULAR-HUMANIST-FOOD-REGULATING GOVERNMENT IS GOING TO PUT THEM ALL IN CONCENTRATION CAMPS AND THEY SHOULD STOCK UP ON RIFLES AND CANNED GOODS but I guess that isn’t as worth mentioning as his sidekicks to you.

We know that already, the sidekick stuff was new!

That’s just background noise. I tune out most conservatives.

Man, I wish I had come up with that headline.

Restoring Hyperbole: Beck’s Jerusalem Rally Will Be “A Planet Course-Altering Event”

There might be - might be - a pillar of fire. No promises. I’m just sayin’, maybe, a miracle will happen. No refunds!

If that motherfucker actually tips the planet out of its orbit, I will personally go over there and kick him in the nuts.

Specifically, I’ll be flying this Beck-nut-kicker express:

Does he believe his own BS? I’m trying to figure out how he says these things without laughing.

Ya know, that’s a good question. I listened to him on the radio in the morning at work, years ago, when he wasn’t very well known. And he was just a very standard conservative talk radio guy, funny, witty, had a couple of buddies who were hard core liberals who called in every week and they’d have a friendly but intense argument about some issue, and he was much more “normal” that Rush was (and Rush used to be a lot more “normal” than Rush is now.)

I haven’t listened to Beck in years, but the Beck I see now literally does not seem to be the same Beck.

I don’t know which would be more “respectable:” whether he actually believes the stuff he is now saying, or whether he knows it is all schtick and is playing these people for the money.

Probably some combo of the two. And the fact that he’s profiting from his religiosity only reaffirms the correctness of his current belief system.

Is this for real?

nobody can advertise like they can advertise in NYC

I guess there’s one street in NYC where all the neoconservative billboards go?

Gotta love the Iran/al-Qaeda linkage in the other advert.

If you can give me a basic location, I’ll go wander over and take a picture.

edit: I’m guessing near Times Square. I’m bored, so I’ll get off at Bryant Park and look around.

that’s what I was thinking…somewhere near Times Square.
