I used the Alastor Sword with Sword Style through the entire game. The purple guitar was deemed lame before and confirmed after use.

I enjoyed both games but there is no way that God of War had a significantly better story than Devil May Cry.
They’re both awful, but one uses this fact to mock itself and the genre in general.
Agreed that they’re both bad. I rank God of War higher based on the fact that I have no fucking idea what any of the DMCs are about after playing them all to completion back to back. I can just imagine skipping all the cutscenes and not missing anything.
The truly sad thing is that in the midst of all this debate about God of War versus Devil May Cry, God Hand, which towers above both of the other two and the entire rest of the genre even when they’re standing on each other’s shoulders, goes unsung.
I can’t believe that in this thread people are trying to convince me that Devil May Cry and God of War are terrible games. I should be able to process that information, this is the internet after all, and yet I cannot. I’m going to have to head off into the mountains for a few days to process this.
I think they’re saying that the stories are bad, not the games themselves.
You know extarbags, in retrospect, and in more careful reading, I think you are correct. I saw roguerog’s post saying ‘They both suck ass’ and Kirian’s ‘They’re both awful’ and just got sad. My mistake, they were actually referring to the story and characters, which are ultimately at video game level, for better or worse.
If I had the energy I’d run a search on what some of these people were saying about GoW when it came out.
I’m probably wrong but it seems like GoW is just at the point where people bash it a bit because it makes them sound “cool”, like a bunch of hipster, indie-music lovers trashing Muse because their album is getting played on mainstream radio (or something like that).
I can’t believe you would even suggest that members of this board would ever play indier than thou. (Obviously apart from that guy indierthanthou, but I have it on reliable information he actually loves Steps and S Club 7.)

My biggest problem with God of War 2 is going to be its price. I bought the first one when it hit $20 and couldn’t have been more satisfied with my purchase. Great game for a great price.
Now, I figure that all God of War games should be $20. What’s up with that? :) I suppose I’ll have to wait a year for this one.

I got around to playing the demo today, overall the game still has that epic feeling. Combat though feels abit more simplify then last time. The block special attacks seem to tear up everyone. I played some DMC3 again before playing and the combat in it plays better then Gow. I think I might hold off and wait for the price to drop before picking it up.
Say it ain’t so, Jo… There’s only one explanation. That’s not Jo, and they really did die in a bus accident, the remains from which S Club 8 were cobbled together. After all, they weigh about the same as SC7 did, and their music has an oddly reanimated, prefabricated quality.
