Stumbled into this over the weekend, and it’s excellent. Based on the story of Bumpy Johnson, who controlled the heroin trade in Harlem in the 60’s. It’s a lot like Boardwalk Empire in that the characters and broad story are factual, but specific plot points aren’t. And what a cast.
Forest Whitaker as Johnson, Vincent D’Onofrio as “Chin” Gigante, Chazz Palminteri as Joe Bonnano, Giancarlo Esposito as Adam Clayton Powell, Paul Sorvino as Frank Costello, and especially Nigel Thatch as Malcolm X.
Well worth your time if you are a fan of the genre.
