There’s a high res/blind bat friendly font mod over at Spellhold Studios. There is/was a couple of different ones actually, but the SHS one is the best I’ve seen.
Man, that pic is amazing! It would totally work as an ad for GoG.

I think I might actually buy it now. I always disliked the idea of having to roleplay 6 people at once.
You should probably look around for some opinions on it first. Modded IE dialogue is, at the best of times, so bad it’s good. Mostly, it’ll just make you cringe and question the age, nationality, IQ & sanity of the creator(s).

couldn’t get the wide screen mod to work but the others appear fine.
spent my evening playing Fable2 anyway
ToEE is so delightfully nerdy. I love it!
Does anyone have a link to some good build threads? I seemed to have dumped all of my 3.5 memory along with my childhood.

Loved BG back in the day, Torment is great, etc etc.
Is ToEE good for someone like me? Or does it just not compare to the other golden age iso RPGs :D

Rhinohelix, I found this site very helpful for ToEE overall -http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/ToEE/index_tips.php
Not really, but I do have a link to the rules, if that’s any help. As for builds, I don’t have a lot of great advice, but the fighting mainly takes place in fairly narrow corridors so stuff that gives you control of the battlefield are much more powerful than you might think. 2 fighters with combat reflexes, great cleave and polearms, for example, work much like the lawnmower in the movie Braindead.
@ Copet: ToEE is a pretty 2D TB tactical dungeon crawl and it arguably has the best combat mechanics of all such games. It also has sub-standard art direction and writing, and pacing problems that are likely to make you hate the first few hours of playing.
Make sure you create at least one fighter with an long-reach weapon, like a flail, to attack from behind someone else. It gives you another tactical option.
I cannot get the Patch 2, the one I have to revert back to to have CO8 mod working properly, to run. I gathered there is a registry hack to make. I tried it like documented on the official Forum but to no avail as the patcher still does not seem to fin the game. Anyone an idea?
Most people have gone ahead and just applied the Co8 mod to the GoG download as-is. It installs and runs, but there may be some instability and there is also some warning about potential conflicts with the front-end options that you can choose. Mind you, these warnings are old (pre-GoG) so I don’t know how much weight they should carry nor do I know what the wizards at GoG have actually done with the base program.
Anyway, a straight application of the Co8 mod set seems to be working fine from what I can tell. Just save early and often lest you come across problems (as an aside, GoG does seem to be using a modified 1.03 version).
I’m using Co8 directly on top of the (unmodified) GoG ToEE install, and it’s working fine.
Just got help in the CO8 Forum: http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php?p=101692&posted=1#post101692
seems better to use version 2 as some DLLs have been modified.

I’m still clearing out the Moathouse right now after spending what felt like hours doing shitty fetch quests in Hommlet. Anyways it seems very clear that your initial group of five - I’m running with a fighter, barbarian, rogue, cleric, wizard group but picked up Fruella in Hommlet to add another much needed fighter. Thereafter once I cleared the outside the moathouse on the way back to Hommlet (I forgot that you can rest in the tower with the lone spider in it!) I ran into the wandering bard named Zaxis a level 5 bard who requested to come along, he’s been a great boon to the party and while I’ll tinker with the idea of killing off Fruella to help my starting five level up faster I can’t see a reason to ever get rid of Zaxis.
Elmo isn’t too bad of an addition, either (or Meleny, if you can manage it and are desirous of having a Druid in the party).

Thanks for the tip Dan but I think a party of seven is about as big as I want to go. Just managed to clear out the rest of the moathouse after some tough fights against pockets of Gnolls, Bugbears, and those darned brigades before I went and killed Larenth. Thereafter things went badly as I went outside to find myself ambushed and rapidly dead with no warning - drats. Thankfully Larenths little bedroom functions in a pinch to rest up.

I took the plunge and bought it, and I’ve been playing for 2-3 hours with the NPC mod so far. It’s actually quite good. The writing is on par with most rpg’s, in my opinion, and the voice acting is pretty decent, too. I recommend it.
