For those wanting to buy it on steam - why? When you buy it on gog, you can put its shortcut into steam and then you have it in one place too, with steam overlay as well. Plus you get it DRM free so that you will always be able to play it even if Valve or CDP ever go under. I don’t understand the “want to have it in one place” statement when this is possible.

I like having stuff in one place as well, but I also like supporting a Polish developer that’s releasing a kick ass sequel to a kick ass game. Hell, I expected them to fold because of the ridiculously high piracy rates in Poland.
Yeah, I buy all of my games via Steam but I’m making an exception for this one.
There will be an “alternate gift” for people like you. Apparently. What it will be…well, you’ll have to wait and see. (This is also how they’ve handled the couple of other times they’ve given away something that people might have bought already.)

And that’s why I’m hesitant to jump right in. When you own as much of the GOG catalog as I do, the remainder can be a questionable proposition in many cases.

I like the fact that Steam tracks the hours I put in a game… so I know how mental I was over one game… and the fact that I don’t have much time left for gaming these days, I am always delighted and surprised to see that I spent, say, 20 hours on Batman!
On this topic, I was sad that CoD 4: Modern Warfare is just over 7 hours for me when I completed the sp!

GOG edition for me. I want to reward them for DRM free. I launch all my games (retail, steam or other digital download site) from my steam library anyway. Just click “add a game - add a non steam game” to set up a shortcut in Steam.

It really boggles my mind that there are people that will rather buy a version that is tied to online DRM instead of a DRM free version wich you can start without using any extra application. Go GoG!! They deserve every penny I gave them so far.
that’s a fair point, I like this function too (so I can see I spent 85 hours in New Vegas so far, GASP) but it is not good enough to make me buy a game on steam because of it. DRM free is mucho mucho better positive, not to mention those other bonuses.
Yeah, if going digital then I’d absolutely go through GOG. I’m contemplating retail vs. GOG. I’d love the CE, but I just can’t see paying $130 for a game no matter how cool the extras are. The premium edition does look nice, at least.
One thing I am unhappy with is the vendor specific DLC model that’s being used. I hoped at least CD Projekt would stay true to a one product approach. Rather dissappointing.
Looks like Amazon.com has outGoGed GoG.
Just received an email about their download games. And you can get The Witcher Enhanced Edition for download for a meagre $6:
Tempting. Though I’ve never heard of Amazon’s download service and don’t know how good it is.

Auto-patching will (almost) always be more important to me.
Dang, I already snagged all the UBI titles they have that I could possibly want for higher prices (Settlers, HOMM games, Panzer General 2). I don’t have Beyond Good and Evil though, but I hear it’s good…

Let’s see how many months until the Atari-Hasbro / Infinity engine week so I can snag all of those games in one fel swoop.
Not interested in this week. Beyond Good and Evil was very entertaining, so was Far Cry.

Sweet. HoMM3 complete, come to papa. I already owned HoMM3 on disc and even had it currently installed on my machine, but this is a good way of getting all the expansion packs too now. We had a discussion earlier in the thread where you guys convinced me that Complete was worth getting for one of the expansions in particular, but I forgot which one now.
It’s very good. Only played the Gamecube version but never finished it due to getting a bit motion sick from the at-times slow frame rate, but I’d guess that wouldn’t be an issue on the PC version.
It has a nicely realized game world, great characters and voice acting, and lovely (albeit very cartoonish) graphics, and decent game mechanics.

Brian, I’m holding off on playing/buying Beyond Good and Evil because of the rumor that they are doing an HD remake for the PS3. I played BG&E on Gametap for a while, using a 360 controller, working with xpadder, which is the way to control it, because I couldn’t stand the keyboard and mouse controls for the PC version. It worked well, and it was a nice game, but it had a slow start where I couldn’t really figure out where to go for the first mission away from base. I had the same problem back in the day with the rented PS2 version. Hopefully in the PS3 version I’ll be able to figure out where to go for the first mission.
Ooohhh, didn’t know that, Rock8, thanks for the tip. I’ll hold off too. :)
So, is Panzer General 2 the good one ? I used to be a wannabe grognard back in the nineties, but I never touched the General series… How does the interface hold up ?
