If it’s Grim Fandango I’m officially stoked – I never played it, and I’ve regretted that I’ve never played it.
Matt Bowyer and Mighty Ponygirl: Lower your expectations a little bit if you get to play Grim Fandango for the first time. It is an amazing game world and story, but there are puzzles that just drove me crazy, even though it was the first game I used Gamefaqs with. In other words, there are puzzles in the game that I couldn’t even figure out how to do even with the solution presented to me.
To be fair though, there might be better worded solutions on the internet for that game by now.
Same, I missed it when it first came out, and by the time I’d heard about what a must-play classic it was and experienced other Schafer games, it was hard to find.
It’ll be nice if Full Throttle is part of this promotion too, even if it’s not quite as revered.
Underworld and Stars also link into Origin’s stuff, as some have noted already.
I’d also point out that EA sent out cease and desist letters to people hosting Ultima IV in the past fortnight. (Which, after they’d first given it away for free at around, IIRC, the time of Ultima IX, many had thought to be now effectively freeware.)
On the other hand, the Lucasarts titles we’re thinking about here are ones that never made it into Steam’s big Lucasarts promotion, which fizzled out rather quickly and mysteriously, perhaps because the rights had been granted to someone else instead…
Yeah, it’s all pure speculation, but we need something to do for the next 24 hours!

You really want to start this fight in GOG thread of all places? And really, you’re going to complain about competition being merely redundant? Alright comrade.

New hint up:
What game made you feel like a hero?
Older ones (for ease of solving the mystery)
What game made you think of the stars?
What game do you ride with the outlaws?
What game made you fear your past?
What game made you go to the underworld?
What game made monsters fear you?
(wish I had links to the other images now to help)
Ummm that sounds kinda like Diablo + the fonts look like that too.
Which it can’t be.
But if it is.
JIZZ IN MY PANTS!
(damn I am going to be so dissapointed)
It doesn’t look like Exocet to me at all (wasn’t that the name?). But maybe that’s because I am putting too much emphasis on the lack of distinctive O and the waveyness of the Ms…

I can easily think of 100 games I would rather see. More importantly, I don’t see where the connection would be. I mean, the Outlaws clue looks like Outlaws to me (I could be wrong there, it just looks like an obvious part of the theme). I don’t know where the LucasArts/EA “theme” originated, mind.
Is this all supposed to be the same game?

Isn’t Diablo still fully supported and sold through Blizzard, anyway? Or is that just Diablo 2?
I thought it was, but I checked the Blizz store 10 minutes ago and didn’t see it (which surprised me, but never mind).
This is GOG we’re talking about. If they had 3 separate publishers, they’d meter them out carefully over the entire year.
There would be many countdowns.

Sticking with the idea of Lucasarts, this could also refer to Afterlife

It has been pointed out elsewhere that the font used in the current image is the exact one from the back of the Dungeon Keeper box. For example, the M’s in both are perfect matches.

OMG, I would totally DIE if it was Dungeon Keeper! I’d also be happy with Afterlife. Loved that game.
Dungeon Keeper is an EA game right? So maybe the Underworld Clue really is about Ultima Underworld then?
So then they’re getting Lucasarts and EA games?
Or maybe “stars” = Wing Commander, and so on. Curiouser and curiouser…
