But, as Delixe pointed out @ GOG.com forum, the heavily blurred background image is also a good match from the cover art of Thief 2. Just look at the shape of the cowl and the orange-reddish background…

So guesses now are LucasArts, EA and Eidos?

I’d do backflips if they got Looking Glass.

Catshade, as much as I would love GoG to get the Thief games (and everything Looking Glass did), that really seems to be stretching it.

I am so prepared with a SON I AM DISAPPOINT image macro

Looking glass MIGHT make sense for some of these:

What game made monsters fear you? - Terra Nova?
What game made you think of the stars? - System Shock? Terra Nova?
What game do you ride with the outlaws? - Thief?
What game made you fear your past? - Thief?
What game made you go to the underworld? - Ultima Underworld?

I’m likely stretching my own self though…

BTW, I am finding all this speculation insanely enjoyable. :)

Well one thing is for sure, GOG certainly know how to keep people guessing. Hoping for at least one more clue this evening just for the fun of it. They definitely have a lot of hype to live up to tomorrow, with people being excited for either EA or LucasArts.

As has been clarified elsewhere, they sent cease and desist notices to websites that were hosting the game but had never been officially authorized by EA to do so. Only a few sites were given that right and those sites are still hosting the free version of Ultima IV.

Which doesn’t rule out that they will offer it via GoG - they could simply sell all the Ultimas in “sets” rather the individually and then they fact that you could get U4 for free would be largely irrelevant.

Assuming its EA that is being hinted at by GoG. Which seems odd to me in a lot of ways - you’d think that EA would want to use their back catalogue to promote their own digital delivery service.

Isn’t EA’s digital delivery service…not very good?

“What game made you feel like a hero.”

Edit: Actually, it says “life a hero”.

Every game there is? Feh…

RapeLay.

No, wait, that wasn’t the right answer, was it? Dammit, I am so new at this.

“life a hero”? WTF?

That old-school font is also telling, but telling what I dunno…

Barring this being a “lol, we got something terrible and fooled you”, this is a great way to build up excitement.

I only want to point this out because if this delivers at all, it’;s the EXACT opposite of the “we’re going away/whoops” incident. Which most of us sanely forgave them for. Just saying, is all.

I hope it’s EA. I want… need to play DK2 again. That’s if they can get it running properly.

Can we not bring that up again? It just always starts arguments.

I do agree this is a great way to build up excitement. The last time they tried this, we got the DnD games like Baldur’s Gate, which was awesome, so I’m hoping this upcoming announcement is at least comparable.

Actually, that probably is a k in that font, because it looks different from the “f” in “feel.”

I am hoping that the “what game made you feel like a hero,” combined with the “choose your class” contest they had a week ago means that they’re close to releasing Hero’s Quest 1. That’s Quest For Glory 1 for all you johnny-come-latelies.

I dunno how the Hero’s Quest games would fit into the other clues though. That would also be kind of a lame announcement, IMO, since they already have King’s Quest, Space Quest and Police Quest.

I think having a digital store is quite different from having the technical know how and experience to get older games running on modern systems. Would be a real support nightmare if you don’t do it properly I think

Plus gog comes with the built in customer base, which probably makes the difference between this being worth it or not for big publishers. EA seems to have reconciled itself long ago to their online store just being one place you can get their stuff, alongside steam and others, not the ONLY place.
