I remember it in Dark Forces 2 as a fairly new thing. An interview with a pro player made a mention of how important it was to learn. First think I can think of to default to it was Battlezone.
I would hope we could get away from WASD, as it does not give you access to as many keys as you could if you moved to, RDFG for instance. Opening up QWASZX for the pinky whereas with WASD you only have SHIFT, ALT and TAB. Even back in Quake days I used RDFG so I could have binds for various stuff around the movement keys, left, above, below, right. And it is still close enough so you can reach 1-7 with little difficulties.

You also have the benefit of the little protrusion on ‘F’ telling you your finger is in the right place.
RDFG makes it too difficult to hit the CTRL (crouch) and SHIFT (sprint).
I’ve been using RDFG since I started binding keys, which is a very long time. Ditto the reasons.
Sympathetic, or copacetic?
Well John Romero with Wolf 3D as well:
John’s advice: 'Play with the mouse and keyboard and use the up arrow and right shift to run most of the time. Don’t sit and wait for he enemy to come --charge and lay waste to them before they know what him ‘em. There’s no room for wimps in World Class Wolfenstein play.’

Awww. The only one on there I’m interested in that I haven’t already snagged is Lionheart, which I figured would be worth picking up on the cheap during a sale eventually.

I’m sure that everyone whos ever going to play Fallout 1 and 2 already owns it. But if you passed on Fallout Tactics because of the fan backlash then I recommend you try it now. As long as you go in knowing its a XCOM/Jagged Alliance/Silent Sentinels type game, you will have a great time. And those isomeric games age fairly gracefully too.

Rather sympathetic like resonant.
There are a lot of fantastic games there…of course, I already own them all :/

This’ll give me a chance to obliterate my wishlist. Almost all of what’s on there that I don’t currently have is in this sale, which is simply magnificent.
How about Sacrifice ? Has it aged gracefully ? There was some talk about it when Brütal Legend got released, and I never tried it. Of course I suck at RTS and I found BL really underwhelming, but still, I’m tempted.

Sacrifice’s interface is a bit dated and click-intensive, but the game itself is definitely worth at least playing once or twice. There’s really nothing else like it, and I love it to death.
It also has Tim Curry. How can you not play it?
Woo, Giants! I don’t know how I hadn’t already gotten it, but it’s a sure bet now. Now back to “Come on LucasArts, I want Armed and Dangerous!”
I’m likely gonna get 9-10 games in this sale, probably all the games with soundtracks I don’t already have. :)
That would be me.
Wish they’d have some 50% RPG sale - would get all the Bioware Engine games which I already own but would like on my new laptop, disc-free. Of course getting Fallout & Fallout 2 which I also have but I never really got that far in 2.
Oh, and is Lionheart even worth $2.99?
The reaction I’ve seen from most folks would indicate “no” but I’m getting it for its soundtrack.
