Agreed. I played RCT3 for maybe 10 minutes before quitting it. Didn’t really like it at all. Loaded up RCT1 the other day and easily played a couple of hours without even noticing. :)

Good to have that clarified regarding RCT3.

Somebody here in an RCT3 thread mentioned stuff like how sun screen basically drove his park. Nevermind the awesome rides and stuff, the peeps wanted sunscreen, and that’s all.

So my vote as RCT1 as the best, RCT2 as a close runner up (never was big on the “can’t charge to get in the park” decision), and RCT3 a far distant last.

So a couple of new releases recently:

Slipstream 5000, a REALLY fun racing game I recall really enjoying back in the day. It has a soundtrack, so I’ll totally be getting this.
Battle Isle: The Andosia War, which I understand is the worst in the series, but I never played it.

Meh.

The only thing good from the latest releases is that Slipstream 5000 is one of Software Refinery’s games, and SR made…

(wait for it)

…[H]ardWar, one of the classic free-roamers of all time. I’d love to see this one packaged up in a Win7 friendly format.

THE FUTURE IS GREEDY

Drool. [H]ardWar was the sh*t.

Hmmm…when did M&M 8 get added. I was wanting to replay that one when I replayed 6 and 7 a couple of years back. Those three games (but especially VI, since VII and VIII were kind of similar) were some of my favorite RPG experiences of all time.

Maybe this is a step in the right direction, and [H]ardWar will be released. :) I still cherish my disks though. :)

Back in March I think.

I’ve never played M&M8, and now that I see it on GoG, I’m thinking I might pick it up, in hopes that it still holds up as well as Wizardry 8 does. Can someone who’s recently played M&M 8 and Wiz8 please briefly compare the two?

My niece enjoyed playing Hardwar with me so much, I left the game with her when I moved to Seattle from Birmingham in '99. Unfortunately that means that the discs are now long lost.

That is a woefully crying shame, sir. :-(

If they did get Hardwar, I’d hope they’d get all the semi-official patches that were released years after the game was out. The ones that added improved hangar management and starting your own shops and hiring NPC ships and such. You could even host persistent worlds and play it like a small scale MMO with buddies, with the economy dynamically changing and everything. It was cool.

Sigh, yeah, now I totally wanna try installing it all.

Hopefully you didn’t pick up M&M8 yet, since it’s on sale along with every other M&M game this weekend. Does that make your decision easier?

OMG, that is TOTALLY the sale I’ve been waiting for! YAY!

Brian, when you die from sheer gaming-related joy, can I have the time machine you use to be able to play all these games?

That’s awesome. Of the HOMM series I only own HOMM 3 which I absolutely adore - should I go backward from that point or forward? 4 gets a bad rap, I think, right?

Also own M&M 1 - 6. Are the later games worth it? I recall 8 getting a lot of poor reviews when it was released.

Wish GoG could get their hands on the Wizardry series. 8 is one of my fave RPGs of all time but I’ve not played any of the others and I’ve heard 7 was great.

I lurv turn based strategy games, and have never played HOMM 3. Will the technical devolution kill it?

Heroes 3 is wonderful buy it.
