Let me repost what I put on GoG for another view on the “$6 too much”:

It’s not that $6 isn’t some crippling price – that’s not the point. It’s just that the price is the same for a creaky EA-published games sans expansions or sequels, when the same cash buys you, say, an Interplay title with all of the expansions and often times a sequel. Somebody pointed out Descent 1+2 above – now there’s a fair deal for $6.

It’s a comparison thing. $6 gets you a lot more on GoG than Populous alone.

GoG might do well to introduce a third price point for some games so they’d have three tiers:

$2.99
$5.99
$9.99

I might bite on Populous alone for $2.99.

The weekend deal on right now (checks to make sure he is still posting in the GoG thread) is 50% off Digital Games Factory titles, the most notable of which are probably the Commando series.

There is no command on the setup screen to do this. I’m sure there was some obvious way to work around this on the UUC version, because I’m 99% sure I did it. But there is no obvious way to do it on the GoG version short of reinstalling.

I just checked and I actually have the same problem with my Ultima Collection version of U2. The workaround I’ve found is that if you open the ‘PLAYER’ file in Notepad and delete its contents (but don’t just delete the file itself), it’ll let you create a new character.

Well I think the price of the Baldur’s Gate II GOG package is too low for the amount of quality gameplay it provides, not to mention glorious soundtrack, still-wonderful graphics and Minsc and his pet hamster Boo.

It should be at least $20.

SSSHHHHHHH! thwak Don’t give 'em any dang ideas!

Not sure if this has been covered. Is there anyway to get the music working in the Ultima 4 GoG version? I really miss the music in the game.

My understanding is no. I’d like it as well. If you find a way please tell us.

This is not answering the question you asked, but the easiest way is to run it via http://xu4.sourceforge.net.

Today’s new EA release is Nox for $5.99.

Here we go, Ultima IV upgrade patch is what you want (have not tried it, buts upgrades to VGA graphics and puts in the C64/Apple sound)

OMGYAY! I just snagged a cheap copy on disk because I was itching to play it again, then THIS happens. :)

Hah, this turn of phrase in the NOX description caught my eye:

to devastating displays of metaphysical force

BEHOLD THE MIGHT OF PHILOSOPHY!!! ;)

Nox = the bomb. Or, at least, I had a good old time when I played it about a gazillion years ago!

Wow a Diablo clone that I haven’t actually played that folks around here are giving a thumbs up to, always a surprise.
Glad these games are so cheap at GOG.

Nox is one of those games that sounded appealing (especially to a Diablo fanatic), but I didn’t discover until well after it came out, so I’ve never really found the time to actually try it out and dammit I’m going to wind up buying it anyway aren’t I…

Noooooooooox! I was not and am not one to play games online mostly because I suck, but I played the hell out of that and still have my CD next to my desk. In fact usually, I just do single player campaigns, but got bored with this one. So, without the online component, I wonder what it will be like when I reinstall.

Omg, Nox!

One of the few games in all my time as a gamer where i played it three times, one game after the other

Yeah I loved Nox. Was always surprised it was made by Westwood whom I only knew for RTS games. Will be picking this up for sure. Awesome surprise release.

Now maybe other Westwood games will see light of day again, too.I want Blade Runner next!

I absolutely loved Blade Runner. Fantastic game.
