Awesome. This was one of the games I hoped to see on gog the instant I heard about the site. My cash is incoming.
Darkland is, like, the poster child for a “good old game.” Well done, GOG! :)
Oh wow, one of my all time favourite games (darklands) and pretty much the sole reason I’ve kept a stand alone installation of Dosbox around.
Darklands is in my backlog. If anyone else wants to play it, then maybe we should start a thread to discuss.

Yeah, I remember struggling with the controls. Especially with the platforming and throwing your ball and running away from enemies.
But the premise and atmosphere were great.
OMG FUCKING DARKLANDS!! WITH THE SOUNDTRACK!! buys
Today is a good day. :)

Wow. Darklands. Never thought I’d see the day.
Lands of Lore and I’m set.
I heard the Lands of Lore games were good, but never played 'em. Weren’t they Westwood properties?

Ya, I believe so. I know the first was, not sure about the sequels.
Think classic Gold Box dungeon crawlers with more production value and some interesting mechanics. I still have nightmares about the green skull making the poison mist to kill the slug.
Part 2 and 3 are still fun, but don’t quite capture the same magic IMO.
Well, if they’re Westwood properties, we sadly night not see 'em for a while, but who knows, since we ARE getting EA games…
Wow, those Darklands graphics are pretty rough. I guess at that time I was spoiled by the Mac’s minimum of 640x480. Of course, we also got relatively few of the AAA games, so…

We did get Nox, so that counts for something.
Oh durh, yeah, forgot about Nox, so I’m likely wrong, and hopefully we’ll see more Westwood releases in the future. :)
I tried playing Darklands a couple of years ago, when I got a copy (I mean legit disk, not a true copy) from Bobjustbob. I found it unplayable. Between the graphics and the UI, I just couldn’t do it. Note that I never played back in the day, so it may be different for those who did.
Never played it back in the day also and looking at the fugly screenshots convinces me I’d have a hard time playing too.
I’ve always wanted to play B-17. But none of the screens show you doing any actual bombing. There IS bombing in the game, right? And do you get to see what you blew up?
Darklands does take a bit of getting used to…I’ve still yet to get used to it, but OMG the depth in the game makes it worth it.
And yes, there’s bombing in B-17.
You will become quite proficient in using the Norden Bombsight.
So I got Darklands, largely from nostalgia, as I loved it way back when. It works, but the little graphic setup utility doesn’t. I submitted a support email about it; when I run it, it won’t let me save any configs as it says the game isn’t installed. Weird.
