I think it’s worth playing just because it feels so different to other adventure games, even if it doesn’t end up succeeding.

Yeah, the last part of the game approaches The Prisoner levels of WTFness. The first part was good, and for some reason I enjoyed a lot of the quicktime scenes (in general, I really hate them).
Indigo Prophecy is worth playing if only because it goes completely fucking bananas there at the end. And given that they’re calling it Fahrenheit with Indigo Prophecy in paranthesis, you’re getting the uncensored Euro version. Probably the only AO rated game on GOG. So you’ve got yourself the full nude shower scene and two interactive sex scenes.
And those aren’t even the crazy part.

Indigo Prophecy is undoubtedly corny, but I loved the hell out of it anyway. It’s a safe bet that however you felt about Heavy Rain will be how you feel about IP, since it’s another Quantic Dream production.
Speaking of…Omicron? Anyone? Maybe? I have the 3 disc CD set still, but I’d happily pay for a GoG version, particularly with a soundtrack!
I recall enjoying Omikron back in the day.

It was very enjoyable, but very strange. Maybe even stranger than IP and Heavy Rain, and it had some flaws. Tried to do too many things, so the hand to hand combat and FPS sections were on the weak side. The world itself, though, and the story, were all kinds of “whoa, dude!” Certainly a stretch, but it all came together nicely (for the time).
Doesn’t hurt that the soundtrack was David Bowie and Gabriel Reeves.

Yeah, I agree, Omikron would be great. I had that game, played it for half an hour, loaned it out and never got a chance to explore its world further. I would love to see it available for download; that bit of exposure I had to the game always kept me longing to return to it.
Since I already own Fahrenheit (disc) and Indigo Prophecy (Steam), this GoG release has me less thrilled. Put me in the “liked it” camp. The QTE-like sequences had a hypnotic charm for me, and the game just oozes melancholy atmosphere. Fans of Angelo Badalamenti should buy it for the soundtrack alone.
Wow, from reading your posts I find I usually agree with your taste in games, but this…whoa.
I remember when the demo came out, I was completely mesmerized by its atmosphere and “differentness”…I loved the full game too, even if they did go crazy with the story. But hell I still enjoyed it lot more than Heavy Rain.
I dunno, it was something about being frustrated about having to hold down every button on the controller just to climb up a small hill that really bugged me.
I gave up on Omikron — I remember a bad driving minigame, walking around being incredibly slow and tedious, and an inane puzzle about something hidden under the floor a church — but I enjoyed the virtual Bowie concert in the bar fairly early on.

Omikron was probably my first big world adventure game and I loved the combat in it as well - definitely a great game… I still have the discs and manuals after all these years!
Huh, reading comprehension fail on my part. You were talking about Heavy Rain, I thought you meant Fahrenheit.
Carry on, HR is worse than Fahrenheit, so all makes sense again :-).
The problem with Fahrenheit is that it derails towards the end. It’s like they had another half-game worth of story saved up and then ran out of budget so had to paste a few key bits in at the end to tie things off. The ending is batshit insane, but I could see it working if it had had the proper lead in. It doesn’t.
Welp, today’s release is Lands of Lore 1 and 2, which I recall some folks saying they wanted, if I’m remembering correctly.

Lands of Lore 1 is really good. At the time of the Eye of the Beholder games, it was a really impressive improvement with great spell effects and a cool story. No idea how it’d hold up today. It also has voice over work by Patrick Stewart! (At least, the CD version did.)
Dangit, for a second there I thought it was TIMES of Lore that had been released on GOG.

I remember when seeing the Lands of lore 2 trailer (it was on the Red Alert disk) and thinking how cool that game must be. I never got the chance to play it.
I probably won’t be able to enjoy it now as much as I would then :(
All of the LoL games beyond the first were pretty awful. The first one was one of my favorite games and I was hugely disappointed by the followups.
Great deal for $6. Lands of Lore 1 is a very good clone of the Dungeon Master style of RPGs. Lands of Lore 2 upped the ante with some impressive (for the time) graphics and animation including some FMV stuff done against green screen. It looks hokey today, but it was cool then. There is a solid RPG underneath Guardians of Destiny, and it was generally considered one of the better RPGs of it’s day.
At $6 I’d say this is a good deal for anyone who enjoys older RPGs and wants to play a classic series on the cheap. GOG seems to be cornering the market on older RPGs that bring back that 90’s nostalgia for a few bucks.

Eye of the Beholder, now there is a series I would love to see on GoG. Would also love to see Bard’s Tale as well, but that may be too old.
