Lands of Lore is a very good (but too old already?) game. At least in my memory, i didn’t have a lot of experience around that age. Lands of Lore 2 is more a “forgotten” game but it’s also very good, with some impressive dungeons and puzzles.

I replayed Lands of Lore a couple of years ago, and still enjoyed it a lot, so in my opinion it holds up just fine.
I never played the sequel, though, as my pc wasn’t able to run it, back when it was released. Does anyone know if it’s worthwhile, maybe even better than the first?
edit:
All of the LoL games beyond the first were pretty awful. The first one was one of my favorite games and I was hugely disappointed by the followups.
Sorry, I missed your post. I’m even more sorry to hear that the sequel is awful. Would anyone care to dispute that? Otherwise, I guess I’ll just skip it. :(

I don’t seem to remember Lands of Lore 2 being awful at all. I thought they were both fantastic games? What made Lands of Lore 2 so terrible?
That said, I’m definitely picking this up. I remember loving the first one in particular. Maybe I never played the second?
I recall playing the second and deciding it just couldn’t capture the fun of the first, but honestly I don’t remember my particular problems with it. That said, $6 for the first game is fine enough for me, and if they throw in the second for free (sort of) then I can always give it another spin if I’m ever bored.

Yeah, sorry. I guess I was pretty tired when I made that post. :)
I guess I’ll pick up that pack then. It’s certainly worth the price for Lands of Lore alone, although I think I still have 3 or so copies of the cd lying around.
Has anyone mentioned Populous 2 yet? ;)
Huh, apparently according to RPS, GoG is looking to expand into not only selling newer games, but possibly also being a service like Steam:
I’m…not sure I’m fond of this. :(
New price points at $14 and $17 too, from what I read in another forum. I’m having trouble thinking of old games I’d be willing to go that high for, given that I’m already overwhelmed with cheap Steam games.
Huh, this doesn’t fill me with confidence.
It’s a crazy world where those have become high prices…

…for 20 year old games.
With Steam sales at $5 to $20 (if not $1.50) on new games, I cannot see a time where I would pay $14 -$17 for GoG games.

As long as they release Alien Crossfire first before changing anything, I’ll be happy.
After that, they could branch out into the inflatable dartboard business for all I’d care…
This is utterly fantastic news, although not unexpected. They had survey recently where they asked users (I participated) if they would be open to new games on gog. I welcome it with open arms, because GOG is the best digital game shop on the whole of internet. And if they can bring their “DRM-free/1 price rules all/no region bullshit/bonuses with every game” philosophy to new games as well, then I say BRING IT ON!
(and yes, they already stated they will never put DRMed game on GOG. And I believe them, because they have always been true to their words, and their track record with GOG, and Witcher franchise, AND retail distribution in central europe, is FUCKING SPOTLESS).

Does anyone remember the survey they sent out a couple of weeks ago? I’m not one for doing surveys, but I did this one to see the questions.
They asked things such as:
- Would you like a desktop app for launching games
- Would you like us to sell newer releases
- If yes, what price are you willing to pay
etc…
son of a…beaten by a minute…why did I answer my phone…
The whole point of the article is that they want start selling newer games.
Am I the only one that enjoys the fact the RPS writer refuses to call Impulse by its new name? Anyway, I have no problems with GOG branching out whatsoever as long as the prices remain good for whatever I care about. The more legit competition that Steam and its ilk get, the better as far as I’m concerned (… well, until they go out of business and I lose hundred of games, lol).
I suspect the higher price point is purely so they can make the fabulous Omikron available…

This is great news. I hope they sell a lot so that the big publishers put their games on GoG.
For me, they have always been the perfect digital distribution system, the only problem until now is that they only sold old games.
I’m fine with GoG selling DRM-free newer games.
Their last two releases tempt me. The original Lands of Lore is one of my favorite RPGs and due to some kind of glitch I never quite finished the game (I was toeing off with Scotia when the glitch happened). Populous II I played and lurved on the Amiga. Does anyone have experience with the PC version? The screenshots make it look a bit worse than I remember.
