We can only hope it is SSI.

Now SSI would be an interesting library to add.

SSI was acquired by Ubisoft that is already on GoG, now I don’t know if any old SSI is there and if not why? Some conflict of licenses?

Microprose?

I already owned retail packages of all except for Age Of Wonders and and the IWD expansions so played them years ago - these are for future replays and with the size of my backlog of games I haven’t played yet, we could be talking YEARS into the future, heh. Still just nice to have on my laptop and store the boxes away.

Of course, a crazy habit I have is every year I start a new game from one or more of the following: IWD, IWD 2, Arcanum, Fallout, BG, PS:T, and Wizardry 8.

Never actually get beyond 5 or 6 hours because I’ll eventually move to something else from the pile of newly acquired games or “backlog of the past year” but those games are like comfort food to me… and I just need a little taste to get those nice warm feelings :)

Admittedly though, I’ve never finished Arcanum (got pretty far when my save file corrupted!) IWD 2 (love the first 15 hours or so but at some point I always lose interest) or Wizardry 8 (I’m pretty sure I got close to the end in that one but hard drive died and hadn’t backed up my save).

SSG?

QQP?

If Microprose still exist in some capacity it doesn’t own almost any of the games it published. xcom and Civilization are owned by 2k Games now

My favorite Microprose game is already on GoG (Master of Orion 2). I think that also belongs to 2K games, right? So GoG already has a deal with 2K games then? I remember getting a copy of MoO2 when I ordered Civ3. Or was Civ3 before Firaxis got sold to 2K? I can’t remember anymore.

Master Orion and Master of Magic are there and Atari is listed as the publisher.

Also RollerCoaster Tycoon is listed as Atari. So either Microprose never owned the rights of all these games or at some point it was sold for parts.

Civilization isn’t on GOG, though. Which is a pretty huge omission.

What other strategy classics aren’t on GOG?

BOTF.

My favorite space 4x.

The Etherlords series from Nival, I really wanted to play these and finally tracked them down on Impulse, would be great on GOG as they are excellent games.

A bit more information on their Facebook page:

“We’re bringing you guys a new publisher tomorrow! Creators of one of the most action-packed turn based strategy series on PC, we will bring four great games from this publisher in the next few weeks. Who do you think it’s going to be?”

LucasArts is in the front of the poll however I don’t recall any turn based strategy LucasArts game.
In fact the only strategy game I recall is “Afterlife” by them and I think it was real-time.

Maybe this helps some of your strategy game buffs “one of the most action-packed turned based strategy games”.

I’m betting it’s whoever published the Worms! games.

I would LOVE for it to be SSI. Fantasy General and Renegade please!

Yes it’s almost confirmed is Team 17 with Worms. I thing there is good remake of the game already with online play so I don’t really care about the the old versions. The same apply’s to Civilization Civ 4 and Civ 5 provide all the Civ I need don’t really want to play the old versions.

A lot of the hardcore Worms fans still seem to prefer Armageddon though (the newer ones have smaller teams, fewer weapons, smaller maps), and from what I remember it’s kind of a pain to get working on modern systems, so it would be a good fit for GOG.

I do think Armageddon was the best one, pinnacle of the series and all that. It really hit that sweet spot of playability and features. There’s a reason Reloaded copied/built upon Armageddon. :-)
