I’d much prefer this to Worms, frankly. Well, Renegade doesn’t do a lot for me.
Didn’t do a lot for most folk, but I enjoyed it.
I never considered Worms a strategy game though. Is that really a fair description?

Well, according to wiki Strategy means
“a comprehensive way to try to pursue political ends, including the threat or actual use of force, in a dialectic of wills – there have to be at least two sides to a conflict. These sides interact, and thus a Strategy will rarely be successful if it shows no adaptability.”[1] Strategy has been extended beyond its traditional fields, military and grand strategy, to business, economics, game theory and other fields.
And I’d say if anything, worms was more of a tactical game, but thats playing with words :-)
In terms of strategy computer games no, worms isn’t one. The thing is, many people don’t know the difference between tactics and strategy
Not sure. They kinda are, but they’re also actiony games too.
If it is Team 17 then it will be Worms and Alien Breed. Oh boy.

The original Worms and Worms 2 hold a dear place in my curmudgeonly heart, so that would be welcome with me.

Give me a fully patched up and functional copy of Worms 2 and I’ll be perfectly happy. Give me a pre-patched copy of Armageddon and I’ll be even happier, but 2 is the one that I hold up in my mind as my favorite since I logged the most hours with it.
Couldn’t care less about Alien Breed.
I would gladly sell my children to see the original Civ 2–NOT the MP Gold edition with the suicidally agressive AI–hit GOG. Not only would I sell my children, but I’d throw in the grandchild of your choice as well.

I still think the best hing to come out of Worms was Liero. Best physics ever.
Trying to think of any action-packed turn-based strategy titles reminded me of the CyberStorm games (MissionForce: CyberStorm and CyberStorm 2: Corporate Wars). Anybody remember these? Are they still available somewhere? And more importantly, were they any good?

MissionForce: CyberStorm was pretty damned good, way back when, but nowadays, I reckon it’s only available illegally.
I hear the sequel was terrible, but I haven’t played it.
I own both Cyberstorm games, and play the first one regularly since there’s really nothing else like it. The second one isn’t horrible, but it’s not as good as the first. They tried to make it both an RTS or a TB game depending on how the player wants to play, and it just diluted the awesomeness from the first game. If they had left it TB and just added what they added – corporations and the like – it would’ve fared much better.
Uh, Rebellion? Force Commander?
I’d love, love, love to see Rebellion on GoG. Hell, most LucasArts games, plz.
In celebration of GoG’s “wonderful” Team 17 additions to their catalog, I loaded up Alien Breed 1 & 2 in Amiga Forever.

Swing and a miss on this one, GoG.
I wouldn’t, because it would make me sad. Rebellion was so close to greatness yet managed to fuck itself through a few bad design decisions.
You wouldn’t have to BUY it. ;) I’d also love to see Afterlife. Loooove that game.
