EA games on GoG have yet to include their expansions, so this shouldn’t be surprising.

New publisher being added, Eidos?

New Publisher Coming: What Kind of Hero Will You Be?

What kind of hero will you be when our new big publisher joins GOG.com?

Wow, a Monday release and big news today? Is it the end of days?

As we‘ve already told you, 2012 will be a year of grandeur for GOG.com. To prove that, another big publisher will join GOG.com in a move that wasn’t predicted even by the Mayans (and they knew a lot about 2012). Our new publisher carries an impressive portfolio with some of your all-time favorite game heroes that will join the GOG.com catalog in coming weeks. Two game characters that are now a standard in their genres will grace our catalog on this Thursday with as we launch the publisher with style, bringing you two new games on one day.

What kind of hero will you be on that day? What are our two major releases?

GOG.com will be giving you clues about the new publisher right here on our forums, hints about one of the two heroes you’ll see on Thursday via Twitter and clues about the other hero on Facebook.

Looks Thief-y.

Eidos looks like a safe bet, in fact Eidos was always a early adopter of experimenting with various digital services the reason they are not already there as probably to do with the Square Enix acquisition time frame. Did Square release any PC games in Japan that may be included?

FF7 definitely had a PC release.

FF8 too.

I’ve never been a graphics whore, but that looks like crap.

“What kind of hero will you be?” appears to be the tag line for Fable II, according to Google. Could it possibly be Microsoft Games Studios?

Considering that Fable 2 didn’t have a PC version (and I doubt they’d make one just for GOG), I’m going to guess that the phrase is generic.

All 3 Thief games on GoG would be marvelous.

I’d be pissed if it was Edios and their older catalog, because I’d have to buy DX AGAIN because of no DRM :(

Characters that are now standard in their genres doesn’t sound like either Garrett or Denton.

Lara Croft would certainly apply.

The new tag line is “cold-blooded killer,” so that sounds Eidos to me (Thief and Hitman).

agent 47, yeah. Garrett, not so much.

I assumed they were different games - “best hidden hero” / “best cold-blooded killer.” The picture is different, too.

Maybe the cold blodded killer is your character from Covert Action?!?!?!?

Yeah…I wish…

Yeap.

Introducing Square Enix on GOG.com

Rebellious JC Denton or death-dealing Mr 47? What kind of hero will you be today?

GOG.com is proud to announce that Square Enix is the newest heavyweight addition to our ever-growing GOG.com catalog of great games. SquareEnix is one of the biggest publishers of the modern gaming world with almost 30-years of experience and famous releases for every single existing gaming system.

Deus: Ex Game of the Year Edition and Hitman: Codename 47 are the first titles we’re releasing from Square Enix, and they’re available today for $9.99 and $5.99 respectively. Both games were originally released by Eidos in 2000, but not a single drop of greatness has been lost since then. Deus Ex is a magnificent blend of remarkable storytelling, RPG customization, and action-packed shooting. With all GOG.com’s heart we recommend Deus Ex for $9.99 as one of the most captivating and rewarding games ever. EVER! Hitman, a demanding stealth/action/planning game, created a now-iconic bald assassin Mr 47. With a vague name and a vague past, Agent 47 at least has a clear goal: eliminate the target at all costs. For you, the cost of Hitman: Codename 47 is $5.99.

There are a few more heroes from SquareEnix, that deserve a special treatment from GOG.com, and we will be announcing them in coming weeks. Today, it’s time to shave your head and buy an AMT Hardballer or wear sunglasses at night and save the world from the Illuminati.

You decide what kind of hero you want to be.

Tomb Raider and Thief must be close behind.

Also, maybe Anachronox or Daikatana?

Oooooh, sweet. I lost my copy of Anachronox long ago. I only made it to the second world too, and always wanted to finish that game.

Plus if they can jump through all the hoops that I go through every time to install Thief and run it properly, I’d buy it again in a second. Every single time I want to re-install Thief on a new computer, I have to go to TTLG and go through through this big long procedure of making it work, it’s a total pain in the ass.

I’d want the Thief mods to run, though. I’ll have to wait and see if those work when GOG gets around to releasing Thief.
