Never played Dragonshard or Demon Stone, so what do I do? Get Planescape: Torment and Baldur’s Gate II which I’ve had boxed copies of for years.
And I just recently installed Throne Of Bhall which I’ve owned for a few years but still haven’t played. Still, three more sets of discs (w/TOEE) I can store away and more RPG goodness for this laptop. And I loved TOEE’s combat (who didn’t?) but never actually finished it.
GoG would really make a killing if they could sell time along with these classics.
And I just realized I got Age Of Wonders in the December sale and haven’t even checked it out yet, completely forgot about it!

Well at least it’s a nice surprise now.
Just started playing DragonShard and it’s pretty good. One heck of a tutorial with that game, you sure know the mechanics after running that.

I bought Icewind Dale 1+2 here this weekend, and started playing IWD 1
Man this is a great game - I use the Widescreen mod at 1280 x 720 and it looks beautiful on my wide screen monitor that usually runs at 1920 x 1080.
There’s a fixpack I use that allows rest anywhere, because otherwise there is a lot of pointless traveling, and also adds some fixes to quests and the like.
The game is damn hard still, though -The first time I encountered an Ogre at lvl 2, I screamed a little…
I’ve been playing IWD2 since picking it up in a December sale and have enjoyed it a lot. It seems very much on rails, but that’s fine, I don’t have think much. Just kill and loot. With the widescreen mod, this engine doesn’t seem old.
I have never before done well with the tactical combat in these Bioware games, and in fact purchased but never got far into BG2 because I so sucked at combat. I think playing IWD2 is helping me get the hang of pause-and-command style, and when I’m done I’m going to take another belated run at BG2 (which I hear some people kind of like).
Are you scaling that to full screen or just playing it windowboxed? I can’t decide what resolution to use.
I loved IWD - very underrated game. I think it’s every bit as good as BG, just a different type of RPG, not necessarily lesser. Started a new game last week, first time I’ve played it in years and still great. Perfect difficulty level, too.
IWD 2 was not as great (held back by pacing issues) but still pretty good.

There’s a mod that adds a full, chatty cast of NPCs to Icewind Dale, if that’s your thing.
Here.

It just scales to fullscreen and looks great. In IWD2 the UI is a bit to the right though, but nothing that annoys me in the long run.
Duuude… this is awesome. Thank you.
Oohhh, GoG now has Digital Integration’s Apache Longbow. I LOVED that sim back in the day. I would KILL if they got Hind, which is honestly my favorite helicopter sim ever.
This would have been a great addition, if they already didn’t have Apache vs. Havoc, which is Apache 2.0 in all but name (Razorworks = ex-DI devs).
Still, there is something about those clean, detailed polygon graphics that the unfiltered, swimmy, non-accelerated polygon texture engines of those days just didn’t have.
I think it’s a great addition, especially if we’ll get Hind and Interactive Magic’s other flight sims.
So I installed GoG’s version of Baldur’s Gate, but I have an annoying screen flicker (the entire on-screen image flicks horizontally back and forth). Has anyone else had this issue and managed to find a solution?
I’m running a GeForce 9800 GTX+ and the default version of the game from GoG (i.e., no mods installed).

Anachronox is an absolutely fantastic game. Great world and character design. It also rates as one of the funniest games ever made, the writing is right up there with Schafer and Wolpaw.
