I’ve been waiting for a sale on the Might and Magic (the RPGs) games for a long time now. Do they ever go on sale?

August 2011. They went on sale back then, so they’re likely to do so again at some point.

I think they were also discounted during the last big GoG holiday sale when everything was on sale.
Yeah, they’ve been on sale maybe twice, that’s it. That’s when I snagged most of 'em.

Machinarium is now on GoG. $10, soundtrack included.
Also, 114 design sketches, 22 “artworks”, and a behind the scenes feature of some sort all add up to making it tempting for me to buy it for a third goshdanged time.

Wing Commander 4: The Price of Freedom for $5.99.
Also, Darwinia was added but anyone who ever wanted to play that almost certainly has at this point.

The Price of Freedom is $5.99
You’re a better man than me for resisting that pun.

But I know that freedom costs $1.05.
Never played a Wing Commander game - is this a good one to start with?
I would start with WC3 as it’s the same 3D engine and the beginning of the story finished in WC4. You’re not really missing much beyond nostalgia value going earlier with the WC1 and WC2 games.
Plus not skipping WC3 ensures the maximum amount of McDowell.

Any chance of X360 gamepad support for WCIV?
Wow, cool, this is the DVD version of WCIV! Back in the day of Wing Commander: Prophecy, I became a really big WC fan and went back and played WC3 and 4 for the first time, and I was filled with envy at people with DVD drives who could play the higher quality cutscenes. Eventually in 1999, I owned a computer with a DVD drive, and bought a copy of WCIV DVD on Ebay. Alas, it didn’t work on that computer for me. Lots of problems getting the joystick to work, getting the game to run, and worst of all, not having the correct codecs or something for the DVD videos to play properly. Eventually I just gave up and chalked it as wasted money.
I should have waited for GoG to carry the game 13 years later. :)

Same with me, loved the game on CD, but was bummed that I never got to experience the DVD port later on. Will purchase.

I have the PS1 version which works with a game pad, so I’d hope this one would as well. I’d never FLY it as such though.
The only WC game I ever played was Prophecy. I really liked it though. I hear it’s not considered the best of the bunch, but I don’t care. I liked it.
