Guess they want to put it “on sale” for $9.99 one of these days.

GoG could become just another digital store if they start selling old games for 20 dollars like… everyone else.

It’s $30 on Steam.

It’s $10 at Half Price Books.

That’s half price, all right.

I’m just glad that they liberated two more games from their DRM shackles, including one from Ubisoft. At this rate, by 2050 DRM will have vanished from PC games.

… and I’ll be dead, more than likely ;)

fwiw, GOG is usually quite competitive with Half Price Books. In this case, it’s not even close.

New releases today!

*Anomaly: Warzone Earth for $10
*Thief 3: Deadly Shadows for $10

I love trolling TTLG by posting that I enjoyed T3 far more than either T1 or T2.

Sad thing is that I’m not really trolling, either.

They’re all fantastic games!

GOG has released the Quest for Glory games. The awesome part is that it’s the whole collection for just $10, which is a bargain. This is one of my favourite Sierra series, with the exception of Gabriel Knight and possibly Laura Bow.

Remember that there’s a freeware remake of the second game, though, so it’s now possible to skip the EGA graphics. :)

And there’s Zeus + Poseidon expansion pack too; Probably the pinnacle in Impression city building series.

This gives me hope that Pharaoh and Emperor will show up, as well.

Quest for Glory 1 and 2 were my favorite point and click adventures. I think I could do a pretty good job of drawing a map of QFG 1 from memory.

Is Quest For Glory 1 the same as Hero’s Quest, in which you could play a fighter, thief or (i forget the third choice) wizard maybe? And the puzzles had different solutions depending on your class?

Same game. They had to change the name due to copyright infringement. The 1st game was later remade in VGA as a point and click adventure rather than a “type commands” adventure.

Instabuy. This game was under-rated IMO when it came out. It was so refreshing to play a strategy that focussed on building rather than combat. If it had a widescreen resolution mod I’d be set.

Ah, but there is a widescreen mod for Zeus + Poseidon.

4th post on this page.

I don’t have the game so I can’t vouch for it, but it seems to be working for other people.

Indeed, it’s totally the best of 'em. Even though I own the disks, I’m totally getting this as soon as I can.

Feh, I gave it a 98% when it came out (old review link, sorry about the broken images). ;)

Holy Shit yeah!

This is great. IIRC, even Sierra’s QFG collection left out V (Dragon Fire), which was therefore hard to get and also hard to run on modern systems.

QFG was possibly my all time favorite series as a kid. And playing all 5 in a row is the perfect way to play them. For people not aware, QFG allowed you to retain a single character through every game (decades before Mass Effect), so it’s really a single adventure, and should be played that way. There were originally supposed to be 4 games, but the planned 3rd game was considered to be too dark and hard for where the hero was in his personal journey, so they inserted another game as 3, and upped the total to 5.

And! It has the manuals and Correspondence Courses in the bonuses, which gave hints about the game and also established the settings. Also, note that QFG2 came with a sweet paper map (also included in the bonuses) as copy protection: it’s required to find the money changer, in order to get money to buy the in-game map, which you can use for the rest of the game.

I could gush on and on, but I’m super, super excited about this. This is basically what I’ve wanted from GoG since it started.

I’m excited too for this is one I’ve been hoping for. Played my magic user through 4 but never got the chance to play 5 so this could be fun!
