Mine works fine. :) Windows 7 64-bit, Radeon 4850.

MY CAR JUST GOT TOTALED! INSURANCE AINT GIVING ME SHIT!

Man, that sucks. :(

Buying GOG games will make you feel better.

You guys piling up $100 bills, consider that even with 50% off, you’re only saving like three dollars in a lot of instances. It certainly adds up, but it probably won’t kill you to wait on a few things and get them later when you have time to play them, even at $5.99 instead of $2.99 or whatever.

It was fine for me. The camera is a little wonky sometimes, nothing worse than any other 3D platformer and much better than some (Psychonauts). Get it, it’s a great game.

Yeah, I’m definitely considering that. Good thing the sale is long, huh?

Finished the game with default settings, no problems.Like a native PC game.

Perfectly. Buy this amazing game now.

$58 blown.

It plays fine on KB&M.

However, never, ever play the non-digital release of this. It had the absolute worst DRM I’ve ever encountered.

BG&E is divided into very small areas with small loads between them, given the limitations of the Xbox/PS2 it was developed for. In the PC version, every time you transitioned between these areas, it would spin up your DVD drive to make sure you still had the disc in the drive. This made what should have been a .5-1 second load take up to 30 seconds at times. It also was extremely hard to crack, using some form of Starforce, so you didn’t have the option of removing the DRM. Not to mention the raging noise of a DVD spinning up every time you did it. It was like being transported back to the early days of CD Rom games. But even those performed better.

Oh, also, even though it did this, it still required you install the entire game on the hard drive.

Absolutely terrible experience.

GoG has Strategic Command. Is it worth the $10 these days? I never could get into the SC2 demos, but the first game seems to have been more highly praised than the sequel.

Nice to see the wargames getting some love. Here’s hoping they keep coming. At least get the rest of the Combat Mission series.

Anyone know how the strategic command series compares to Commander Europe at War?

Frontpage countdown timer time, bitches.

It’s going to be a podcast.

Thanks for posting this. I’d forgotten about the existence of GoG.com because of the Steam sales recently. I wonder if they’ve had any new releases?

Also with the countdown it says “Expect the unexcelled”. The only game that comes to mind right now that fits that description is MOO2.

Perhaps they’re looking to move into the realm of business software nostalgia, and starting with Lotus 1-2-3 v2.1 and Quattro.

There was that remark by Tom Ohle, earlier in this thread I think, that he was quite sure that it isn’t impossible to license Planescape: Torment for digital distribution…

Either that, or they’ve managed to perform the impossible - System Shock 2.

“Unexcelled” doesn’t leave much room for mediocrity.

A friend of mine was asking me about http://www.classicgamingpresents.com, which offers a bunch of old games for sale, including Darklands. Has this company been discussed here? I can’t decide whether they’re legit.

From their Terms page:

Disclaimer:

What does CGPT Ltd Offer? We offer our customers an Installer unique to each game to make them work on newer versions of Windows (XP & Vista). We also provide the game the installer actually patches, this
is provided free with the installer. We do not claim any ownership on the game titles offered in anyway what so ever. If you are the copyright holder of any of these game titles and you don’t want us to offer your game(s) please contact us and we’ll take the respective piece of software down immediately.

So no, definitely not legit at all. More like an abandonware site that’s selling the games instead of providing them for free download. Extra slimy if you ask me.

So, you’re buying the installer? And the game is provided for free when you buy the installer?

Ah, thank you. I missed that somehow. I’ll warn my friend to steer clear.

So anyway… saw this on PA, who saw it on the GOG forums, who saw it in an online Polish interview:

With the announcement of the Activision deal, we have started an “Activision Month” at GOG.com. This means that anything happening on GOG in the coming weeks will be related to this publisher, and believe me, a lot will happen.

In March, we plan to announce another big publisher thanks to whom GOG will get HUUUGE hits. By the way, it’s not the only surprise we have planned for March. ;)
I guess there will be plenty to do in the post-holiday gaming lull, if the rumors are legit.
