Gotchas when replacing a desktop PC PSU TELL ME ABOUT THEM

Bought the Corsair CX750M. It’s small, plenty of power, and the least amount of bad reviews I could find (plenty of excellent reviews, too). And it was slightly under $100; a lot of the higher-end power supplies were in the $120-$170 range.

I like the modular nature; I’ve never had one before. My Antec power supply has a ton of power cables I don’t use cluttering up an already tight case. (Seriously, who uses molex connectors anymore? This thing has like 4 of them alone).

Should get here Tuesday (thank you, Prime!), same day as the Haswell box.

“Not Haswell compatible” just means that it may not work well with the chip in its sleep state, since it draws less power while sleeping than previous chips. At worst you may have to cycle the power to get the computer to come back up. Or disable sleep mode. Otherwise older PSUs will work fine with Haswell.

Case fans use Molex. If you have a large case, it’s easier to route separate cables rather than daisy chaining the 4-pin fan connectors.
