Sigh, as much as I want it, I have to realize I’ve barely touched all the Slitherine games I got in their little Steam sale 3 months ago. I’m still going through the tutorial of Pike and Shot, for example.

Order of Battle: Pacific is amazing. I’m actually only on the 5th boot camp scenario and I already love it. It makes Panzer Corps look positively archaic in comparison. The navy part by itself would make a great game on its own. You need to buy this!

I got stuck on the US Guadacanal scenario. Could not win it, or if I did, I had so little prestige or whatever they call it afterwards that the next battle was unwinnable. Maybe I should just try it again.

So I think I’m going to go with one of these two. Any opinions about this? I’ve played the original Battle Academy and I realize that this is not exactly the same kind of game. I know absolutely nothing about this time period but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Heroes of Normandie also looks quite interesting. Going over the Heroes of Normandie thread, it looks like it was criticized for being fairly dry and very dice roll heavy. Has anyone played the more recent updates and with the new cards system? Has it gotten better?

If you have a whopping 50% discount I would recommend going for one of the big fish like CMANO or War in the Pacific. Both are great groggy games in their own way, but War in the Pacific really is something special I would recommend to all grogs.
