Hah, I’m a wannabe grog, not a real one! I would never buy a Grigsby game. I actually just realized that Sengoku Jidai releases on May 19th. That’s before my coupon runs out and that’s a little more up my alley than the Pike and Shot game.
Anybody know any good reading material for Sengoku period? My Japanese history is horrible (well outside of the WWII stuff) considering that I’ve been living here for 11 years plus. I guess I need to pick up Clavell’s Shogun and I’ve found some recommendations for a book called Taiko.

Enjoy.
Thank you joefriendgood! I took V65.
You are welcome Mr. Bismark. I’m very happy you grabbed it. Your Graviteam Tactics updates are very enjoyable.

Yeah, just got the e-mail. Pike and Shot in Japan, basically.
Looks interesting.
Lil Napoleon gives this news the thumbs up!

Thanks for the reminder. Sengoku Jidai also got the Deluxe version up on steam, but you can get $2 cheaper by buying the deluxe version from Matrix directly (should be steam key also per developer on steam forum).

My initial thought was that it was a bargain at $27 and I was going to get it. But the more I read and think about it, the more it appears to a glorified mod, and unless someone can show me that there’s more to it, I’ll hold off.
tgb123, did you see this? If Tim Stone says it, I believe it!
Mr. Tim Stone
Huh, it looks like if you don’t care about the e-books it’s actually cheaper to just manually add the campaigns separately in Steam.

Thanks for the tip. I was a little ticked that there was a superior version with extra campaigns. I guess we’ll have to see how meaty the included campaigns are. I just hope we’re not buying part of a game.

Yeah, that’s what I did as I don’t care about the e-book, added 3 DLCs with main game for $37.

The base game includes 4 campaigns, the campaign DLCs or the Deluxe version added Yuan Chinese invading Japan, and Qing Chinese invading Korea campaigns with all the armies to play with if you add MP skirmish DLC.

Is this mainly just a tactical wargame? Is there much to the strategic side other than moving armies around on a map? I’m thinking of the TW type games which include diplomacy and building the infrastructure of your provinces.

No real strategic game to speak of, just pushing armies from battle to battle. (That’s the way it is in vanilla Pike & Shot, and one of the developers told me that it’s the same here).
Some gossip about Pike & Shot.

So Order of Battle has kinda gone free. The base game is free and includes all the tutorials, and the first scenario of each DLC. I played the first tutorial scenario and am just in love, so I’ll be getting all the DLC on the Steam Sale. :)

I cannot recommend this game enough. A more complicated, yet still easy to get into, Panzer General. Hoping this new format does we’ll see more campaigns for it.
