I think the Poles won that battle kthxbye!

The exciting conclusion, or What Happens When Bombers Are Commanded.

Sobieski and his Hussars became the unified symbol of Polish military for every historical strategy game on that day.

Until Pilduski and Sikorski worked magic in 1920, I’d agree.

What would you play on Vassal and how? I’d consider both live and PBEM. PBEM is a touch easier for me and I would play the COIN games, especially the one’s without trump cards.

Both Live and PBEM. COIN games but would be mostly into Pendragon because it’s VASSAL module is finally out after a painful months long wait.

Empire of the Sun would be great, too, as I’m still trying to learn that.

Also Pericles would be interesting.

Pericles would be painful on VASSAL if it weren’t played live.

Thank you all for the replies.

Pericles is one I was thinking about, having not been able to get local interest. The pacing does seem horrible for PBEM. For a live Vassal play I’d think the big obstacle is coordinating four players at a good time. I’ve got the same problem, even worse, with Here I Stand and Virgin Queen.

You just kind of have to develop your own pace and method for PBEM/PBF. Every game requires a unique flow of its own. I’d always start live if I could and then switch later after you have your sea-legs.

Poles make good pastries too, I’m game. Just no Brits.

I was thinking the same thing; the Marston Moor or Culloden cakes would taste awful.

Has anyone here played Here I Stand or Virgin Queen? If so, do you have any opinions or experiences to share? I’ve always wanted to play, but have never gotten the chance.

Cue @Tom_Mc

@Brooski is right you two should become Vassal besties. The modules are pretty damn good from what I have heard. Second-hand though, I haven’t played them.

They’re excellent games, though a bit on the longer side. I’ve played both and enjoyed them very much. They’re both multiplayer CDGs, very much into asymmetry, with VQ being even more asymmetrical than HiS(in my opinion). My only problem with the game is that you have to have a group that understands how everyone else scores so that you don’t just hand the game out. In VQ, for example, if HRE is left unmolested, they’ll win almost every time- it’s incumbent on France, Spain, and Ottomans to put some pressure on them to keep them from just spamming art patronage.

Can the Ottomans leave HRE alone? Or the Protestants? I’d think messing around with the HRE would be sort of their thing.

Hey, you know if a Gang of Four can bee coordinated here with @Panzeh, @Tom_Mc and @Mark_L, I’d join in and Vassal-play VQ or COIN or Here I Stand.

I beeist thou Huckl’bury.

There are a lot easier keys to get than the HRE’s as the Ottomans, particularly if the Ottomans are the only ones putting on the pressure, and as the Ottomans, you are really going to be leaning on getting more keys.

Fair enough! I don’t know much about the game! I need to read the rules and some strategy articles so I have an idea of what I’m doing and what the factions want, but after that I’d be up for a game if we have a quorum.

Also, should quorum be the official term for a quarter to three gaming group?

I will say, if we’re going to play with 4, I do recommend HiS more. While HiS will require 2 out of the 4 to double-up on powers, it has some rules that prevent the doubled powers from tanking one to help the other.

VQ’s method isn’t quite so interesting, IMO.

Well, do we have one or two more?
