I would join a HIS or VQ game if people are looking for a fifth/sixth player. I have played both games a number of times. I’m limited to after 9PM ET to make moves most days due to family obligations, but if people are okay with that, it should be fun.

I could Swing that. Most any night, actually.

I’d be interested if there’s space as well

Cool to see a Bomber Command match after a few years. Going to have to dust it off and play again soon. Thanks to both of you for sharing the match on YouTube.

I think the German player gave a lot of points (and ultimately the victory condition) to the British player due in large part to bad weather mishaps on launch/recovery, and not being able to get a solid fix on the main raid in short order. It’s hard to play ‘catch up’ as the Germans when the raid isn’t deep.

When the weather is really poor, perhaps it’s actually a good strategy to limit the number of fighters launched, so as to minimize launch/recovery accidents–basically free VPs to the British player. It’s a strategy that may backfire, but it does put the proverbial ball into the British player’s court to really land some big hits on the main target in crappy weather with flak and some token wild boar harassment. Anyone played this game enough times to comment on a “stay at home” strategy for the more susceptible German fighters on nights where launch/recovery accidents are going to be high?

Just finished listening to @Brooski’s interview on the 3MA podcast.

Man…Mark Herman owes you a beer, or at least a free copy of Versailles 1919, for driving you to sift through all that BGG data.

Yeah but… did they answer the most pressing question of all time that is… What’s a wargame?

I will definitely collect that beer from Mark at next year’s CSW Expo.

As per my spreadsheet, it is whatever I say it is :)

I didn’t know Derrida had a cat!

I don’t think he’d limit it by calling it that. Maybe a “cat”.

That dude looks like he knows what’s up.

Looks like WOSS is going definitely to be the last game in an era. I just learned that Phil T has stepped down from his position at AGEOD, whose leadership now includes Pocus and the McNeils.

Thought you grogheads will get excited about a wargame on the Fall of Rome!

Pandemic: Fall of Rome

This…this is not. So we are starting to gain a definition of terms, anyway.

There’s battle mechanic with dice based combat resolution. There will be defensive and offensive decision making from the players against the barbarians AI. It’s a wargame all right!

Its a Euro with Pt2Pt (very simple) and cards (that don’t look like Operations cards). It has a minimum of historical chrome on it and Meeple pieces.

Derrida might call it a “war game”.

From the website:

“We’ll discuss the battle mechanic more in a future article so stay tuned.”

Goes here rather than boardgames?

Anyway VPG sold or “aligned” whatever that means. It sounds like a good thing imho.

Good stuff. From Tabletop Tycoon’s website. It looks like “aligned” means assistance w crowdfunding, marketing, logistics, etc. And a built-in retail outlet. I think its a positive for VPG.

In April of 2015 we formally restructured the growing company into Tabletop Tycoon, Inc which owns Myriad Games (Retail), Game Salute (Publishing), Ship Naked (Logistics), Hit Point Sales (Wholesale), and Luminous Lighthouse (Management

Yeah it looks good. I still cant make out what the deal is though. This line sounds like a sale.

“We have worked very well with the team from Victory Point Games for a long time. We are pleased to have their team joining our staff to continue to expand opportunities for the fans of their games.”

Bu the rest sounds like a publishing partnership. Odd.
