Probably not a good victory condition for US. But… Was some nice tank battles therein and after (including some 8th army stuff).
(grr I can’t believe I am running around with you crazy grognards)
Doing hallucinogens is a viable option, @KristiGaines
But could I do better than Fredenhall. If I had even mechanics.
There was so much going on there. The very least of which was our tank strength.
You guys carry on. I am gonna find a good NA game at regiment- platoon level and win Kasserine Pass. (Sry it doesn’t seem very likely)’
A WEGO North Africa game here: http://www.matrixgames.com/products/product.asp?gid=676
Note though that there is no campaign and none is planned according to the dev.

I can’t imagine playing a whole campaign using that game system. It would be like trying to play all of the North African campaign using MMP’s BCS, only with a system that is nowhere near as good as BCS. And with an interface that’s not as good as Tiller’s.
If you buy that game, prepare yourself for refund. Oh wait - it’s not on Steam.
Yeah, @cannedwombat and I both recommended it with serious caveats about 14 posts ago.
Yeah, after linking it I vaguely remembered some posts about it already. Decided not to withdraw it. It’s tough getting old. My memory is not as good as it never was. :)
I’ll say this about John Tiller products: People who represent almost -0- market cannot demand AAA treatment for their desired products. There are a number of complaints about Tiller’s product, many of them quite valid, but Tiller updates ALL of his games in a series whenever the latest one is released with new features. How many video wargame producers do that? And the stock artwork may be bad, but it’s highly moddable and art mods are widely available for most all series. And how much eye candy does one need for hex and counters? And AI? Most here say they only care about multiplayer anyway, so in such a non-registering market why would John invest the effort for such little payoff?
I find myself going back to JTS time and again because no one else provides any real competition for what he does, and what he does is basically what I’m after. Make it profitable and probably more design teams will pursue it. Right now, for serious wargames, it’s Tiller and Grigsby and the rest are just momentary and mercurial diversions.
Not much. But even his bare bones efforts are creaky at present. The stuff is, I repeat, 20 going on 25 years old.
I can pretty much get exactly what he does for 1/2 the price, on steam and with PBEM++ support elsewhere.
Or I can play the stuff I have of his from 15 years ago (which I don’t anymore) if I get the hankering to play his stuff again. So why would I give him 60 bucks (non-refundable) now?
Heck, I can play Kasserine on my Ipad with the App conversion for PzC that I bought 3 years ago for 4.99.
Dropping 60 for a few scenarios doesn’t seem worth it anymore.
I’m playing Tiller’s Bluge '44 with Volcano Man’s artwork and Jison’s mapmod and find it quite good looking.
Edit - Forgot to put my cursor on a stack to show the improved unit pics. As we say in the Bulge…Nuts!
And you can play his stuff from 15 years ago with better art mods and recent updates because he and his minions keep updating the old titles. I get that you’d like really, really new code and stuff. The question is, though, would you rather have nothing? Everyone would like state of the art material. New graphics levels are frequently discussed on The Blitz site. And no one really wants to lose what they’ve already bought into with JTS titles. The new Panzer Battles games have better graphics than the older series, but retain certain basics in JT’s code. I’m not exactly certain what it is about his code that you despise other than it being “old”. If it does the job at hand, why reinvent the wheel? It doesn’t give me many problems and I don’t play these games cursing the UI.
I’ve written about this in here eight times, I’ve tried Kursk to see 0 improvement on the product other than some new bmp files for unit icon art. I would have refunded it but it isn’t on Steam (which means steam wants no part of it for support reasons-it isn’t compliant).
The Multiplayer is ancient and sucks. No one on planet earth emails zip files anymore. The “AI” limits solo play to being the attacker against fixed positions. The system is brittle in how it represents scenarios and campaigns: brittle, hard units. I do not want to buy it.
I’d rather play a Vassal game online with someone than play the warmed over leftovers from Thanksgiving 1998 that is JTS. Or Strategic Commander. Or a potential new release (Steel Tigers). The U/I, gameplay, graphics and, heck, everything are better (or could be better). There are many items that compete for my Grognard time.
The key word in your post up there is you. That’s fine. Have at it and enjoy it.
I support your anti-recommendation.
