@thewombat broke it with the second choice. :)
Confirmed: Independence and Turmoil: East Timor Indonesia, and the International Community, 1999-2011. Competitive/Cooperative Diplomatic-Political-Military
I’ll leave this open for another day or three for anyone else and the come up with a voting methodology (likely that you can’t vote for your own nomination) and create a Jenkin’s Ear ™ prize for the winner.
Colditz After Action Report:
So it was quite excellent. Very realistic. The cast, writing and performances were superb. It suffers a tad from old BBC-style “video inside, film outside” but that worked well, given the period it was portraying.
But most importantly, what it did do was turn me on to this. Never seen it, and it may be one of the best television series I have ever encountered. Season One is free on Amazon Prime. It is so good, I broke my “keep it digital” rule, bought a multi-region DVD player (again…) and bought Seasons 2 and 3.

The forum game of Founding Fathers finally got me to order it. I have Republic of Rome and the American History angle is appealing. I had been looking at it for a while and it was just finally time to pick it up.
Glad you are finding our forum game entertaining. Founding Fathers is a fun game. I’m guessing there will be another game when our game finishes.

The 2019 Quarter to Three Grognard Thread Maybeannualish Jenkin’s Ear ™ Competition
This is a Thread Participant-nominated competition via poll to select the most “popular” game titles from amongst a set of “Dream Games”, Viddya or Bored Board, nominated by Qt3 Gragnard thread participants. The competition ends May 2, 2019.
Rules:
1.) Anyone may vote.
2.) No voter may vote for their own nomination (if applicable). They may vote for any other nomination, however.
3.) In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by competitive die rolls (as is genre-appropriate).
Prizes: A Virtual Jenkin’s Ear ™ Totem, a Jenkin’s Ear ™ T-Shirt (donated by an anonymous Grognard) and the promise that, in-thread, we will plead and whine with @Rod_Humble to make the design, to which he will placatingly say “Sure, we’ll see” like we are crazy people.
Note: If @Rod_Humble wins, he gets to do that to himself, like a crazy person (“hey man, make this game”, to himself. “Sure, sure whatever you say, great idea”, to himself).

All Jenkin’s Ear merchandise must be approved* by @cannedwombat.
if you start sending me actual ears…*
**nevermind, disregard, carry on.
Havent voted yet as I may end up doing a quick protoype of the winner. Its helpful when folks put in the kind of decisions they want the player(s) to take during the game EG this from @TheWombat 's
“The focus would be on getting a mission and then putting together the force to accomplish it from what you had available.”
The reason this is helpful is I can already see I wouldn’t need to model positional space or LOS etc but I also get an indication of what the focus of the game is on from a decisions perspective.
Thats generally how I like to work on consims. Start with the decision space over time and then work my way back from there.
Anyway, fun exercise! Maybe we can all have a design rountable brainstorm around the winner? Just for fun I have no idea if I will find the time to make anything but the process of doing a concept together may be fun in its own right.
Hmmm, I was thinking of picking it up my own damned self. Dang you Matrix.

So many games, so little time to learn the complex ones :-\
Yeah, who am I kidding? I’ll pick it up, and then load up Rebel Galaxy Outlaw instead. Maybe I’ll wait until the DLC comes out so I’ll actually play it.

So I bought the RTS Act of Aggression on sale today, and was playing a bit of the campaign, which starts with a battle in Northern Mexico. This had me thinking back to a book I read in the early 90s about a fight between the US and Mexico by the guy that wrote Team Yankee, I couldn’t remember his name off the top of my head so an Amazon search led me to (among many other items):
A Team Yankee WW3 miniatures game is out there. I guess it is by the Flames of War people.
