Yeah, I don’t think this is what it looks like it is. Wargame Vault is a print-on-demand downloadable service. You don’t get the box or anything–just components.
So it’s really a “print-on-demand company gets the rights to do a reprint” – not WotC reprinting Up Front.
Still kinda neat.
Btw, note this:
That means they’re not using original art files–they’re using scans or repros or something.
Well “minimal blurriness” is in the eye of the beholder. Would be nice if they had some pics to show what they mean by minimal.

There are some reviews up on youtube. I haven’t had time to look at them, but they might shed light on the quality of the product.
They do- see the link I posted.

Apparently they have replaced the counters with cards, though they give you a scan of the counters on photo paper or something.
I own the Wargames Vault “Up Front” printed version. Seems just as good as the original to me component wise, arguably better.
Still not sure I like Up Front itself as a design but the component quality is good.

How do you like the card replacements for the counters?
Sorry for the delay I wanted to take you some pictures as I saw the darn thing just last week which is why it was fresh in my mind. But now after digging around the house I cant find it. Anyway my memory is it made no difference or was better. But tastes may well vary. Sorry :(
If you guys could have one WWII tactical wargame, what would it be? Needs to be good for solo play and at least have the Eastern Front as an option.
For true solo (not playing both sides, but an automated enemy), I think Company of Heroes Awakening the bear + solo expansion is a good choice.
They are about to release a new edition of the game with the revised activation rules (similar to those introduced in the solo expansion/PC port).
I really enjoy the Band of Brothers game system from Worthington Games. Ghost Panzer is the standalone East Front game, there is also the Normandy game (Screaming Eagles) and an expansion to both (Texas Arrows). There is not a dedicated solitaire system, but it plays solitaire fine Unless knowing what is under conceal counters at scenario setup would be a dealbreaker.

/me waits to see if @Brooski nominates ASL. :)
For solo play?
I have not played SASL, but outside of that the system seem really not suited to solo, given concealment is a key element.
Many moons ago I had ASL in some form. My head would implode trying to read that rule book today.
The beauty of ASL is that you do not really have to read the entire rulebook or anything like it.
Admittedly, even the parts that you do have to know for nearly every scenario (infantry, guns, vehicles) are pretty heavy. But I think people get stuck on all of the rules for things like human wave attacks, sewer movement, motorcycles, etc. You really can just look those things up on an as-needed basis before you play a scenario that calls for them.
I know that @Rod_Humble would nominate Old School Tactical.

What about Advanced Tobruk System? :p
