Ground Control 2 announced

Yay!

http://groundcontrol2.customers.artful.net/flash.asp

Tom Chick’s favorite dungeon crawl, whatever the fuck that means. I’m assuming it means this game is nothing like Sacrifice, so sign me up!

I’m only buying it if I can play it with an XBox controller.

I’m hoping for a DDR dance pad edition, so Tyjenks and I can play together. Not like that, you perverts.

Well I know I’M actually happy about this, even though I’m drowning in sequels. ;)

I have no idea what that means either, but to get into the spirit of things I’m going to proclaim Homeworld 2 “wumpus’ favorite Jane Fonda workout video”.

I don’t know, Homeworld 2 might be awesome and what not, but I don’t think it can compare with these:

I hope to god they implement some sort of in-mission save this time.

“Jane Fonda’s lower body solution”

Does that come in pints?

The ironic witty postmodern off-the-cuff caustic subreferential humor in this forum is becoming stultifying. :?

I had a feeling Dennis Miller would be a bad thing for Western culture…

What? Dr Crypt hasn’t even shown up yet!

(knock on wood)

It’s from the old forums. You called GC’s AI “weak”, and the mission design “a linear dungeon crawl.” Which really isn’t true; the lack of in-mission save is what killed the game for most people. It’s actually a nicely designed little package.

I spent about 15 minutes digging through the old forums, which was kinda fun, and I found a few posts of mine referencing (your post), but I couldn’t find the original. Don’t make me get all Desslock on your ass.

I’m psyched, I loved Ground Control. I never thought it would get a sequal. Sac2 can’t be far off!!

Well, if I called it a dungeon crawl, I don’t know what I was thinking. That’s a term for games like Diablo and Nethack where you’re just, umm, crawling through dungeons.

What Ground Control was, though, was a bunch of corridors that you move through, activating clusters of AI units one group at a time. That’s what I meant.

Now please explain yourself when you called it your favorite Jane Fonda workout video.

 -Tom

You’re just pissed because there weren’t any Sac Doctors in Ground Control.

Not to be snide, but could you provide a contrasting example of good RTS campaign/level design? Seriously, I’d be interested to hear it…

From the look of this, it looks like GC2 will follow that classic design .

I didn’t think the first one did well enough to justify a sequel. Hmm. I guess in a world with Mortyr 2, you can’t predict those things.

THOSE FUCKING ROCK!

They’ve done it again… significantly raised the graphics standards for the genre.

StarCraft.

Yep, some great missions. Remember the timed mission where you had 15 minutes to fortify your base before the Zerg zerged?
