Yeah, I posted this elsewhere but since there might be a handful of ANet folks here:

This is the most giddy I’ve been for an MMO since CoH first launched. The combat, the sidekicking, the cheap teleport-friend power just seemed like things that they “got”. I have a feeling ANet gets this and so much more - now it’s just the waaaaaaait. :D

Did you misspeak or did I not get the latest memo? I thought Qt3 was aiming at Jade Quarry.

So racials the pvp power gamer in me is twitching.

I know they can’t be used in sPvP but what about WvWvW?

Also what are they? Google only showing me out of date stuff.

BFF will be on Jade Quarry, and the backup server for BFF will be Dragonbrand. BFF is the Broken Forums guild, with crossover from Qt3 people amongst others.

The inital plan was to have the Qt3 guild go to Jade Quarry as well, but there was some reservations about JQ being too congested, especially for the WvW part of the game. It was then decided that Qt3 would be heading to Ehrmy Bay instead.

I’m fairly sure all servers will be filled up over the week, Also note that as long as you’re able to choose a home server, you won’t really have to wait in any queues unless its for WvW. As once you’ve chosen a home server, if the server gets too full, you get thrown into what is called an overflow server. You can just play on the overflow server, and it’ll put you in a queue to get back to your home server when there is space available.

Ehmry Bay has been picked as the Qt3 server. Check here for further details.

So I’m all loaded up and ready to go. I’ll be joining y’all on Ehmry Bay.

Also, haven’t played the beta, what’s the process to join a guild? Can we request access or does someone in particular need to send an invite? If so, who would that be for the Qt3 guild?

10 hours to go! See you all in-game! I’m off to bed!

Poor Razgon, he didn’t seem to see all the info about servers coming up potentially 3 hours early. Only 7 left to go if all goes well…

Us East Coasters always get screwed with game go-lives times. :)

Yeah, this is the most excited I have been for a game launch in many years. I can’t believe how many of my old friends dating back to EQ and DAoC are going to be playing again in the same guild.

I haven’t stayed up super late in years, but will be doing so tonight.

Thanks Eric- but I’ve always heard about the Font of Rhand called a “mini-dungeon” so don’t blame me!

Also thanks for the cool info.

I did run into some other type of open world dungeon at one point but for the life of me I don’t have even the vaguest recollection where I was. It was one of those things where I ran down a hallway or somewhere… saw some traps or stuff on the floor… I said “hey, this is cool” - then I died - then a couple of days later I said “I wish I’d remembered where that was.”

They can be used in WvWvW. Or at least you could use them in WvWvW during the second beta weekend as my Norn Guardian had a good time shapechanging into a bear in the middle of a big battle that weekend.

The Wiki appears to be down and I don’t know where else there might be a full list. They tend to be comparable to the other skills that would fit into their particular slots. And they tend to be themed.

For example, the Norn elite racials are all shapechanging skills that allow them to take on the aspect of one of the four main Norn totem animals (wolf, bear, snow leopard, and raven). They’re cool, but you have to ask yourself, do I really want to take that elite over one of my class elites?

You have to get invited by someone in the guild who has invite powers. The nice thing is that once you join the guild, all your characters are in the guild automatically - you just have to go to the guild panel (hit G) for each new one and choose “Represent” down at the bottom right (I think) to activate your membership for each of the alts. You only have to do this once per toon (since you can be in multiple guilds, the mechanism whereby you choose which guild you’re active in at any point in time is called “representing.”

There’s a separate thread Tom Chick started which has the guild info in it. The invite info should be in there.

God…counting the mere hours now until a (possible) launch. Words cannot express how excited I am to finally play this game as I’m sure you all are. :D

Guild Wars 2 devs are now streaming live. :D

I hear you buddy, today has been one long ass day!

I have tried to stay as in the dark as possible to avoid spoiling it. Is there a brief summary that would help me make a semi informed decision about class and race choice? Just the basics like, if there are primary attributes for races, racial specials, and not too spoilery description of classes. I looked at the official webpage, but it was a bit too vague.

I don’t want to poke around too much, but if anyone knows helpful newbie guide that is not overly verbose it would be appreciated.

Crafting Guide

No worries, we call them mini-dungeons ourselves I just wanted to point out that the name doesn’t necessarily indicate that they are trivial to get through.

You can try this for the basics:
