Yeah. Again, week #1 lottery draw I guess. :(

Worked smoothly for me only one crash

Just listened to the latest Qt3 podcast. Chris mentioned he doesn’t like the underwater movement/combat. I have seen the pathing issues but sort of work around this by trying not to fight against objects. But IMO the underwater scenery and action is some of the best parts of the game. Absolutely beautiful and wonderful to explore.

I was really pleased with not only the underwater settings, but the fact they give you waterbreathing fro the get-go, and don’t make you futz around holding your breath all the time. The separate aquatic weapon/skill lines are cool, too (though figuring out which additional (7+ slot) skills work underwater, and having to be underwater it seems to actually switch them seems odd, though I might be missing something there).

It IS hard to fight sometimes, though; I was fighting some giant shark and keeping in melee range was nearly impossible, because even though I was like right in its face my abilities kept showing out of range.

If a skill can’t be used underwater, it’ll have a water drop icon with a cross on it in your skills list.

My reaction was to a buy a copy from the brick and mortar. Paid a premium.
Was this also part of their reasoning?

Heh, really? Their digital version is (well, was) £10 more than a copy from Amazon, over here.

Yea, I’m sure they love giving a big cut of the box price over to the retailers. It’s all a big conspiracy to make less money!

I saw that, but only when I was under water; I assume then that other skills that can be used are unmarked? Eh, doesn’t matter; I’ll figure it out as I go I guess.

When you mouse over the skill, in the tooltip, look at the top right corner and for the crossed out water symbol there. You can do it when on land as well (in your H screen).

Regarding GW2 crafting, all I will say is that I’ll go out of my way to kill something that might drop a vial of blood or a poison sac. And I will curse them if they don’t drop one!

If anyone needs some 8-slot storage bags, you can send me an in-game mail detailing which bags you’d like made with the materials attached or can message me first in-game. There are current ones I can make

8 Slot Rawhide Leather Pack (8 Slots)
·10x Stretch Rawhide Leather Square or 20x Rawhide Leather Scrap

8 Slot Invisible Leather Pack (8 Slots, items in this box will never appear in a sell-to-vendor list and will not move when inventory is sorted
·10x Stretch Rawhide Leather Square or 20x Rawhide Leather Scrap + 3x Piles of Glittering Dust

8 Slot Oiled Leather Pack (8 Slots, if possible, junk items will fill this bag before other empty spaces)
·10x Stretch Rawhide Leather Square or 20x Rawhide Leather Scrap + 3x Bone Chips

There are already guildies who will make 10-slot bags with cheap iron (iron goes for like 4-8 copper per on the TP last I was able to check).

So level up them crafting skills ! :)

THAT’S what that icon is! I had no freakin clue what that meant as mousing over it didn’t do anything and it’s not a super intuitive icon.

I can also make 12 slot bags but the problem is I can’t send it across server. I don’t know if it’s a bug or intended.

lol well they just lost at least 8 accounts for this action. i know they needed to do it blah blah blah but oh well our gain there loss. shame really we thought it had potential but i wont wait cause they screwed up

Well, for a while you couldn’t send items in the mail, regardless as to whether it was cross-server or not. However, they turned it on this morning. Plus I’ve sent weapons and stuff cross-server, so I would chalk it up as a bug and try again.

They’ve added three additional servers in Europe (German) but I had no problems for a few days now.

Late to the party, just got it.

First impression: extraordinarily well polished. Fluidity of gameplay has obviously been their top priority, and it shows.

Having just come off the back of TSW, the same-old same-old fantasy setting, particularly the hint of anime, slightly annoys me, but that’s just me. Also, hearing the news about CoH shutting down has put a bit of a dampener on my enjoyment of this new game.

But yeah, so far Mesmer is the most unique-feeling class I’ve tried, very interesting playstyle.

Surprisingly, the story isn’t too bad, if you can overlook the execrable voice-acting from Bob in Accounting, and the somewhat twee dialogue.

DEs work smoothly and are a lot of fun to participate in. They cleverly take advantage of the flocking and helping-others instincts.

All in all, a rock solid game from Arenanet, as expected :)

I’m playing too. I like it quite a bit but the generic fantasy setting fails to grab me in the least, and the quests I’ve done so far are a bit dull too. And yeah, the voice acting is terrible. I’m not a fan of the story so far either. Secret World really puts it to shame in story and voice acting and creative questing.

But the game mechanics are great so far and the combat seems really interesting. I say “seems” because I have a bit of trouble following what’s going on when more than a couple of things are fighting.

And the no monthly fee really cemented the sale for me. I’m busy at the moment and don’t have a lot of time to play – I’ve played GW2 twice in four days and I may not play it at all this weekend. If I knew I had the clock ticking on a free month and then a $15 fee was kicking in, I would have stayed away.
