This would be perfect for my dad, who would love GW2 with a slightly easier-to-handle combat system like this. I’ll wait for an official ANet response to appear on its “legality” before encouraging him to buy the game though.

Boy, if life were only like this.

Great to hear you have a very similar taste in games. I hope there are some pleasant surprises in store for us with regards to WvWvW with expansions and such.

The PvE wasn’t good, but I didn’t know there were macros. I never played with anyone doing that. The PvE was something you did for a couple of weeks for the most part and then only did when you wanted to farm something. It was a minor part of the game.

Just checked my /age - 121 hours over 19 days. Still as addicted as the first day I played in beta weekend 1. Love this game.

Apologies Strider I was on my Grumpy period (sleep deprivation via teething )

This is how combat and movement worked in Tera and it’s a far superior way to play IMO. I’d use it in a heartbeat if I wasn’t sure that ANet would ban my account. According to a post I saw the other day they don’t even want you using an injector for things like SMAA.

There was a short conversation in guild chat last night about how I thought mesmer was more popular than elementalist. Nobody else thought so, so I wonder: is it just my perception? I know what my skills look like, so I recognize them more often? Or are there proportionally more sylvari mesmers than, say, asura mesmers?

They tried something like this in STO and I didn’t like it. Maybe it could be done better, but it wasn’t for me.

Have you tried chewing on one of these?

As a human i see that fire elementalist rock drop ability all of the time, but that might be because it is one of the most “Very visible from far away” abilities out there.

I see a TON of warriors running around everywhere, and very few hunters and Necros actually.

In other news, I just hid lvl 35(Yay me for not succumbing more to Altholism) and bought my first “Rare” weapon - I can see why money would start to pour in the higher level you get, since the cheapest of those on AH was 30 silver!

No big deal, I feel your pain though (hehe sounds wrong when we talk about teething). The only thing that got me through that was thinking that there are only a few teeth that have to come out and it will be over soon. :)

It sounds like a great idea and since I start getting cramps in my “mouse hand” while playing GW2 lately, I would love to try something like this. It most definitely violates EULA though, someone quoted the related piece from it in that thread, and I don’t want to risk it.

What level are you? Maybe mesmer is a more popular alt than ele? Out in the high(er) level zones (I am lvl 65), I definitely see elementalists way more often than mesmers.

Is anyone noticing TP getting a little bit more sane lately? It seems people started to realize they lose money when they list stuff at vendor+1c price and I see this happening a bit less. At higher levels, when you get drops that vendor for over 1 silver, you can lose quite a lot of coin selling like that.

I see a lot of elementalists at low levels (being the archetypal mage and all), but they get progressively rarer at higher levels. Whereas there are fewer low-level Mesmers but their numbers remain steady.

Having played both an Elementalist (75) and Warrior (25), I think they must represent the extreme ends of difficulty. The warrior kills enemies 5 levels higher that would two-shot the elementalist. I feel like elementalists are a kiting class that are not given the proper tools to kite.

I’m still on the low side of 20, so that’s possible. It’s also possible that people at lower levels aren’t realizing what they’re getting into with mesmer; I understand it takes a while to come into its own, whereas elementalist has great appeal because you can jump in and blast things.

That’s an interesting take re: mesmer. I suppose it could well be a popular alt thing. I suppose I see your point on elementalist difficulty, too—it’s a class with lots of damage as its best trick, and it runs out of damage facing higher level foes in the same way that my mesmer runs out of tricks. I’d guess warrior has enough defensive abilities (or maybe you’re gearing it defensively enough?) to wear down more powerful opponents.

I got an Elem to 27 and tried a Warrior. Haven’t touched the Elem since and my Warrior is now 40. Dual axes and rifle FTW.

Seems like GW2 is doing well with it breaking 2 million sales.

“Reactions from around the world justified the time and care we put into developing Guild Wars 2 and making it into the game it is today. And this is only the beginning. We’re continually fine-tuning the game to deliver the polished experience that our players expect, and we’re already working on new adventures and experiences to introduce into this truly dynamic online world.”

Awesome, I hope they continue to see success. It’s a very well-crafted game and one you can tell they were passionate about making.

Ele damage seems pretty sad in dungeons since we are forced to spec defensive or get one-shotted. They are still great in WvWvW; no one else puts out as much long range damage.

I just hit 80 with my Ele and rolled a Guardian alt. Life is so much easier. I can basically auto attack veteran mobs and win while with the Ele, it’s a lot of work. We will see how it is in later levels with the Guardian.

I’m going to have to decide between my asura elementalist and my norn guardian for my next main character. The asura aesthetic and general adorableness are points in the elementalist’s favor, but the norn just-like-giant-dwarves thing is appealing. On the other hand, the norn’s running animation reminds me of something out of a cartoon, so I’m not sure if I want to stare at that for a few dozen levels.
