Is the Daily Achievement worth it? I feel stressed trying to find 5 events a day.

I hate dailies.

It’s a decent reward. If you’re struggling to do 5 events a day I have to wonder what you’re doing though!

I had this problem yesterday, but it was because it seems like the 15 to 25 Norn area is all kinds of broken scriptwise. A good amount of events seem frozen in time as something went wrong and they can’t complete (or start).

Sounds like DCUO. ;)

That’s a part of it, but it’s also that I may only have an hour or two in a day to play, so I feel the urge to go seeking out 5 events (many of which are broken) rather than just play the game.

I’m thinking that once my main gets higher, the money and xp won’t be as much as a factor and I will start ignoring it.

The money and XP stays relevant.

5 events playing “normally” in an hour or two should just occur naturally, particularly if you hang around for the next events in the chain.

Well, apparently mystic coins are used in legendary crafting. And you need a BUTTLOAAAAD. So I would defiantly keep doing them!

Yeah I pretty much fall into events all the time, and many are a series of 2 or three… they also don’t have to be different events.

Good thing events have decent rewards. I doubt I’d do any otherwise. And most WvW events are lies. “Defend the keep!” means what, I have no idea, because there’s no one to defend it against.

WvW is pretty hit or miss for me. I wish it was contained in a smaller area. It can take a lot of running and time to get to fights, and it’s often hard to tell if it’s even worth going to the crossed swords. Is it a big fight or just a few players? Will there be anything to do once I take the five minutes to run there? I wish there was something like Thidranki in DAoC – small area where you can always count on a good fight going on.

I take i you still havent tried the other pvp options there is, even though I told you about them earlier in this thread? Go the Mists, pass through the first tutorial area and talk to the scout there. Plenty of other ways to pvp.

I’ve done the PvP. It’s ok, but it’s the same game played on rotating maps. I’m also not all that interested in cosmetic rewards. I wish playing those matches gave me XP like they did in Warhammer.

I like the WvW when there’s a good fight going on. Finding the fights can be a bit difficult at times. I also wish the terrain were a bit easier to navigate. Too many cliffs and mountains you have to run around, though I’ve taken my chances with swan dives off some cliffs to speed things up.

You’re doing it wrong. Chasing swords on the map is a really silly idea. Using the event cues in WvW also is a bad way to go.

Instead, make sure you understand how supply and towers work, and their strategic relationship to one another and the central keep. That will tell you where the fights are likely to be, not where the fights were five minutes ago.

Also, make sure you have /team chat up and running. That’s the best way to find out where defenders, assaulters, or enemy incursions are happening.

Team chat? I didn’t know about that. Am I automatically put in a team group when I zone into WvW?

Part of the issue may be that ebay is routinely stomping the other servers. I’m not sure how many enemy players are playing.

Team chat isn’t enabled automatically, I don’t think. You have to enable it in the game.

EBay players are very good about communicating big picture strategy and tactics in /t channel.

Rolled a Norn Engineer focusing on flamethrower and a couple of elixers (can only afford “B” for now but will add “R” later). This is my first alt. I like the Norn starting area more than the Sylvari starting area (although the Sylvari areas are prettier and more interesting) and the personal story is more entertaining.

After having leveled a Thief – my first and only character before this – to 41, something that really bugs me about the Engineer is the way kit activation/deactivation differs from Weapon Switching. I’d prefer to switch between standard weapons and the flamethrower using the Swap Weapons key (`) as I do with my main Thief, rather than the Utility Skill key which (until I manage to retrain myself) is less convenient. Can this be addressed via a key bind? I assume they designed it this way with the assumption that engineers would use multiple kits, but it doesn’t work for me because the flamethrower is the only kit I’m interested in using.

Edit: Ack, silly me, I should have just tried it instead of posting a question. Mapping the Utility Skill key for flamethrower to ` does the trick for now. My only concern is the fact that this key will need to be rebound each time I switch between Thief and Engineer.

Also bugs me that the kit deactivates on its own periodically, such as when I move to a new zone or exit/enter water.

One more gripe. This is purely aesthetic: While rolling my engineer yesterday, I loved the Panscopic Monocle option and was bummed when I found headgear with better stats almost right away that supplanted the monocle. Similarly, I had 75 extra gems (edit: not gold!) burning a whole in my pocket and wondered what buying sunglasses from the Gem Store would be like. In this case, you can wear the sunglasses and a mask at the same time, but only the sunglasses displays (I was hoping for both and don’t like how it looks with just the sunglasses).

Sucks that you can’t wear/display eye gear and mouth gear at the same time. Hopefully they will add options down the road, but given that it doesn’t affect gameplay I doubt they will. Oh well. First world problems.

I’ve played some sPvP and I enjoy it, but I have only played the 8v8 maps. Has anyone entered a tournament? Are the maps exactly the same? Is it a better experience or is it pretty much the same as the non-tournament sPvP?

I’ve only made it up to a 26 level ranger so I am still figuring out all the options at level 80. I’ve gotten to the point where I can do one big burst and then run away, but that’s probably not the best teammate behavior. I use the hyena in sPvP because he can call a friend and I figure the enemy might get confused by the extra target and not come after me before I’ve zephyr-shortbowed them to death.

Holy crap.

Heh. I was thinking the same thing. I have a level 30 and I don’t even have 75 silver yet.

75 gold?!? how’d you get that?
