I’ve found that the various pools and lakes contain large numbers of NPCs that haven’t been killed in a long time and hold absolutely ridiculous XP bonuses. I found several areas where there were regular mobs giving 4-5x normal kill XP due to the bonus. This adds up quickly. You tend to not get jumped underwater in these areas either, because most people aren’t jumping in lakes where there isn’t a map objective (which is also why these NPCs are untouched).

CM Story used to be a cakewalk. You could pretty much run in 4-man without breaking a sweat. When we ran it the other night, though, it actually provided a challenge (my chest and pants both got blown off by the end of it!).
There was a reason it was “popular” to run, but it was because it was extremely easy for the amount of rewards provided. I think it’s more in line now.

Well, I ended up playing a couple of tournament games last night. Yeah, it’s way different. It feels far more strategic. The quality of play seems to be a step up from regular as well. Was fun, but there’s that extra level of pressure that’s not present in a regular match. What do you get if you win one of those?

You know what I would really love in this game? Map annotations. I’d love a way to easily denote cool pieces of terrain, set pieces, or resource patches that the point of interest system just doesn’t capture. Depending on how the map works it could be fairly simple to have it pull coordinates and the note from a text/xml file, which would also make it easy to share your finds with friends.

Yes! I was wishing for this myself just last night, I wanted to leave notes of cool sites as well as various farms I come across for my friend who does Cooking.

For the free tournaments you get a copper chest for 3rd or 4th place (which means you won at least the first round) along with 100 Glory. 2nd Place is a Silver Chest and 200 Glory. 1st place is a Gold Chest and 300 Glory and a Tournament Ticket.
These contain the “free tournament” set of PvP gear, and over time provide a hell of a lot of material to salvage with PvP Salvage kits you can then use with Glory to craft higher-end stuff once your Glory rank gets higher. The Silver and Gold chests can also contain dyes.

So of course it should get priority over the obvious exploits most visible to anyone playing atm.
You sound like Blizzard at the release of Cata. Wasn’t story mode supposed to be the easy casual group mode while explorable was supposed to be the challenge?

I’d settle for just being able to drop waypoints, with some sort of in-game markers that point you in the correct direction.
Unless that already exists and I haven’t figured out how to use it?

I have absolutely no idea what this even means. I haven’t played WoW since 2005.
I ran CM Story before, I’ve run it since. I think it is more fun and challenging now than it was before. I didn’t know saying as much was advocating some sort of offensive agenda to screw people out of fun.
I think A.Net made a mistake with the rewards system for dungeons. I think this got through from dungeons not being well tested during any of the more open betas, with the exception of AC where this issue wasn’t as apparent. I’m for them taking steps to address this and bring things in line with designer intent. I’m not afraid to say I think they screwed up. But what are they going to do about it now other than work towards fixing it?

Hope they fix the drawing range issues.
did the dragon event yesterday (the one depicted in Toms latest post) and I couldn’t see half the people that were there, nor half the enemies beacuse the engine decided to make them invisible.
Even more worrysome is that the same thing happens in PVP and the engine decides to has FRIENDLIES on higher priority of being displayed than ENEMIES so you might end up running straight into them… this is the same problem we had back in WARHAMMER so many years ago, and also in SWTOR using their Oh so many years ago engine.
I would’ve hoped it was fixed by now… but alas…

Doesn’t exist, unless you count the waypoints added by NPCs giving directions in the major cities.

Is there a setting you can change? I was running into this a few nights back. I would charge into the enemy group because I thought we outnumbered them only to see a much larger group “pop in” as I moved forward. But someone in my group was saying he could see the enemy much farther than I could.
I wonder if it’s some dynamic thing where it starts dropping models to maintain a certain framerate? That would explain why my friend with a more powerful rig could see more?

It’s definitely just one of the graphics options, can’t remember which one off the top of my head though. Just that I ended up discovering that while doing WvW so I remember tweaking one thing and fixing it.

I am pretty sure there is no setting that can increase the number of players displayed on the screen more than what I already see. Its a engine thing, which is a sad thing.
Not sure if that’s what you mean but you can drop your waypoints by alt-clicking the map (regular or mini). The marker will be visible for everyone in the group.

Yeah, pretty much. Gameplay Programmer Habib Loew said as much the other day on the official forums, if I’m reading it correctly. Hopefully they can roll out some improvements soonish.

Amazing that the game is still selling for 54€…
Personally I’m done with it, I’m even willing to trade my Pre-ordered account for a Mists of Pandaria Premium pre-order key, even if I end up losing roughly 15€… GW2 simply isn’t a game for me.

Someone has to explain the fun of WvW to me. Maybe it’s just my server but the last few WvW games I’ve played have been the worst PvP I’ve experienced in a MMO.
I enter the battlegrounds. Find a large group to follow and then we either zerg the enemy or the enemy zergs us. Zero tactics, zero skill, and zero teamwork. I’m probably doing something wrong because this can’t be the WvW everyone else is talking about.
Because it’s an MMO and they tend to get devalued quickly.
Plus, I didn’t say I didn’t like it, I said it’s not for me, it’s a great game mind you, it simply didn’t click for me.
