Pretty much what WvW is all about.

Seeing as how they went so far as to stop selling it for awhile (online) and have just released a Mac (beta) client, I’m not surprised at all.

Till you face an equal population server that actually uses some large scale direction of the various zergs and you get rolled and complain on forums.

I anyone having issues accessing the log-in server? Is the server down? Is there any way for me to find this information?
Right now the client is telling me I have a problem with my firewall, but I doubt that’s the case.
Yes its down, for my apartment and some friends too.

I’ve mostly been doing spvp. I just tried my first tpvp. One guy quits. The other team starts bragging when they start dominating. Someone on my team goes it’s 5v4. Their response is “umad?”. Yeah I don’t think GW2 magically has some sort of mature community that is eluding the other MOBAs.
It doesn’t bother me much since I play LOL and I’m used to ignoring these type of people. I still wish I could level up my PvE character so I can do all the dungeons with other guildmates. Instead I feel like I’m being left behind if I want to play spvp/tpvp. It’s also nice to have a higher level in WvW so you can try different builds.

Follow their Twitter (https://twitter.com/guildwars2), they’re usually good about tweeting service updates. The log-in server is currently down.

Thanks. I always have to have people remind that Twitter exists; I never find it on my own.
Go and install Raidcall, subscribe to the Quarter To Three channel, then come and join the Tuesday night QT3 mild rampage, and we’ll show you how much fun WvW can be when you’re part of a coordinated group with a strategy.

MMOs ‘devalue’ quickly because they’re usually sub based and that’s where the money is earned (and subs rarely get discounted). This isn’t sub based, and a discount on the box price a month after launch when there’s already huge demand would be counter productive.
If i recall, prices for Guild Wars and the expansions took a long, long time to come down. Don’t expect any steam sales too soon.

Here is my level 31 Ranger and Pet in his get up, looking fine and dandy :)

Not sure about fine, but certainly dandy.
Right…but your post about being astounded by it still retailing at full price a month after release suggests a rather complete lack of awareness as to how this pricing model works on your part.
Not particularly surprised by anyone discovering the game doesn’t click for them personally. Different tastes and what not. But…yeah, this is a non-subscription MMO with a fairly invisible pay element going on. It’s going to be full release price for the next year.

It would appear that this is going to be an interesting week of WvW. Despite Ebay jumping out to an early lead, it would appear that Maguuma and Tarnished Coast have formed an alliance to flat out massacre us.
I was there last night. It was a bad, bloody event. It was on eBay borderlands and we were attacking Dreaming Bay. Things looked ok and we had at least one commander to gather around with plenty of chatter in the team channel. But suddenly it all went bad.
A horde of tarnished coast invaders came our of the keep, taking us by surprise. Someone said something about an underwater entrance they were using, but I was too busy running for my life to figure it out. I made it all the way up the stair to the road, but another group charged us there, Maguuma invaders, every single one with the GOON guild tag. I was cut down near the road, with a decent view of the aftermath.
The eBay defenders didn’t last long as we were horribly outnumbered. But on the bright side, the battle didn’t end then. The Tarnished Coast invaders were fiercely fighting the GOONs. After a while the TCI had driven them off and turned their sights north.
I stayed on another 40 minutes, but we never put together another army. It wasn’t going well when I logged out.

Yeah I played pretty late last night to morning and we got above 450 points after the initial start. We pushed BOTH back pretty hard … and then I went to sleep.
Right now, Maguuma and TC took back about 50% of what we took late last night to the early morning. We are barely in 1st place total, but are now 3rd in points accruing.
WvWvW is definitely a 24hr game. You snooze, you possibly will lose!
I am surprised we are barely still in 1st place… TC and Maguuma are considered upper tier servers (at least compared to Ebay).
Still alot more interesting than last weeks matchup which we cleaned up easy.
So my main (Norn Warrior) is lvl 42, and I am thinking I may be ready to do some dungeon diving. Any groups forming for Sunday late afternoon/early evening for the first 2 dungeons?

Yeah, wvw got really interesting tonight.
Good competition and back and forth keep battles. Did not feel 1 sided like the first 4 weeks, we had some great skirmishes in addition to zerg fights.
Usually skirmishes happen concurrently to zerg fights if you know what you’re doing. Post up with 3 or 4 to intercept reinforcements coming in through narrow passes :)
I’d like to set up a night or two next week–separate from WvW Tuesday–to try to do some 5v5 Tournament SPvP.
Be interested in hearing some ideas about builds for that and if anyone’s interested and what times might work out.
My first thought is that a group with 2 mesmers–each guarding a point–and then three roamers (with 1 guardian, a thief…and then a warrior or maybe a hunter?)
Thoughts, ideas, etc?
