At the moment I’m bouncing around between the three dragon events. Frostgorge is definitely the best one in terms of enjoyment, spectacle and rewards (about 1700 karma if you are quick). They repeat every three or so hours. I usually get a yellow item out of the chest and an armful of blue and green stuff to vend.

Stop playing? If getting to the end of the imaginary treadmill in your head without some vertical gear progression grind to keep you playing the same boring content over and over again to stay motivated is what you need there are some pandas that still want your subscription.

Exactly, it’s not like you haven’t got your money’s worth and there is loads of good stuff to play at the moment. Torchlight 2 and Borderlands 2 are keeping me away from GW2 and with Xcom next I’m note sure when I will play again but I will be back to it at some point.

I just jumped into the WvW stuff for the first time last night, and while I didn’t really understand everything that was happening, it still seemed pretty cool.

We managed to assault the central castle and take it from the green server, which was slick.

I’m not sure what the difference is between the borderlands and the central eternal battlegrounds place though. I’m gonna check the borderlands tonight and see what the deal is with that.

We wanted to address some of the concerns around ‘botting’, and let everyone know what we’ve been doing about it, as well as our plans for continuing to tackle this issue.

Our monitoring of ‘bot’ activity has already resulted in over 1600 account terminations world-wide in the last week alone, and we are actively tracking the most common ‘bots’ in use, so that we can continue to eliminate them from the game. As we continue to gather information on these ‘bots’, we will be increasing the rate of account termination to remove them. Please continue to report players that you suspect of ‘botting’ – your support is much appreciated.

We are actively improving our means of detecting ‘bot’ activity in the game automatically. This includes tools for our customer support team to help them verify ‘botting’ reports and efficiently issue account terminations. Recently we have also hired a team of data specialists who will be helping us create more effective tools for analyzing reports of ‘botting.’

As a side effect, these efforts directly impact the operations of third-party gold sellers (and spammers). In conjunction with ‘bot’ removal we also take Real Money Trading very seriously and actively remove hundreds of gold spammers and sellers each day.

In short, we are fully committed to keeping this community free of bots and illicit gold sellers, and we very much appreciate your assistance in identifying and eliminating them.

As I read through that paragraph, I put special emphasis on the word ‘bot’ because of the quotation marks. Now I can’t help but think of ‘botting’ as some sort of illicit sex activity, and I want to go find some dark alley somewhere where I can do some ‘botting’ or get ‘botted’ or something.

The thing about WvW IMO is that it is a very hit and miss thing in terms of personal satisfaction (hehe I feel weird writing this after Byrdman’s dark alley sexual fantasies :)). Sometimes everything clicks, people around me play great, we do lots of cool stuff and I have lots of fun. Other times people in the zone just kinda wonder around aimlessly, doing some stupid stuff, losing sieges to some stupid mistakes, spending tons of times hitting some stupid gates only to get killed when they get the gate to like 60% and I feel like I wasted my time (and silver because of the siege blueprints I waste).

It’s just a nature of PvP (WvW in particular) I guess. It’s hard to get some consistent enjoyment out of it as it depends on a lot of things and people.

But when everything clicks, man, it is so much fun, it’s scary. :)

I think that if you think world v world is too boring, nothing will ever entertain you for long. You can always look at this game like a singleplayer game. You don’t have too look at it like a regular mmo because there is no subscription fee. Ive played 170 hours for $60, which is much more then I would normally spend on a single player game. So, yeah.

As far as I know, the only way to get the game right now is to purchase it. There’s no trial that I’m aware of.

Had my first hack attempt from China just now. Thankfully the email authentication stopped it, but I’d really really really really like a hardware or software authenticator as an option as well, possibly in addition to the email.
