Skill points come pretty quick at 80 if you run instances. Each instance run gives about a level. Dynamic events are pretty good too, at 17k for a top level DE you’ll get about a level per 15 DEs.

I will agree with MrPerson re: skill point acquisition. I’ve already spent 100 skill points on purchasing Eldritch Scrolls to use in making a couple of exotic weapons, and I’m planning on making a Legendary some day - given the material requirements, getting 200 skill points will be the LEAST of my worries in making that weapon!

Is that what that was all about? I saw them while killing the bandits at the ranch. A long train of naked rangers with bear pets all circling the ranch in a constant and consistant pattern. Half the time they didn’t even seem to be in combat with the bandits, and I never saw them stop long enough to loot anything. I wonder how they can macro that so that all the toons kill and loot?

Given the game mechanics in GW2, I would guess it would be one of the easier game to program bots for. Heck, you don’t even need to tab target or target for loot. You could probably make the simplest of programs to just run around, spam your one skill, and your loot all button. People have made pretty complex bot programs for games that required pixel perfect mouse controls, so I can’t imagine this one would be too difficult.

I suppose that’s true. Since the “bear train” was simply running in a pattern all the bots would need to do is follow the leader and spam autoattack and “Take All” every second and if they missed something on the first pass it would be there the second time around. Seems like it wouldn’t be worth doing that for such low level items though, unless the motive was to take advantage of the event and farm XP as well, thus leveling all the bots so you could take the naked bear show to the next level area.

Oh, I am already at the 400 level. Actually just finished my last exotic opal piece :). It just took a lot longer than I thought it would. It just sort of relies on the random luck of finding a rare item.

Once you decide that legendary weapons are yor thing, I doubt skillpoint will be an issue. I think the 400-550 gold pieces will probably be more of an issue.

Tried my first bit of WvW last night. I’m, er, going to need to do some research. I had NO CLUE what was going on. Amazed by the scope of the map and all the activities, but totally mystified.

Do you need to be a particular level to play in WvW or does it autoscale you up to 80 like PvP?

Autoscales to 80, with the quality of your gear relative to your level defining how well it scales. You only have the abilities and traits that you’ve unlocked, unlike sPVP.

You can play WvW anytime after the tutorial and it autoscales you.

Are the legendary weapons even that great? Looking at their stats, they don’t actually seem that special… other than requiring seemingly infinite amounts of resources to construct. Am I missing something, or are they really just mainly about the cosmetic aspect of the skin?

From what I have read on the main boards, the stat gains are minor over exotic and mystic weapons.

Legendary short bow: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Dreamer

It shoots rainbows. My ranger wants one.

I believe Legendary weapons have identical stats to Level 80 exotics. The only reason you’d want one would be for the weapon skin and the unique effect it produces.

Like the bow shooting rainbows for example, or the greatsword Sunrise producing a wavy effect that shows the daytime sky (I understand Twilight does the same with the nighttime sky).

There are other exotics that have special effects, though, like the scepter Immobulus. And I’m sure there are lots of others too.

I recall reading some where way back when that one of the things avoided in GW was the inability to get the best weapons unless you were willing to grind for months. You still have to grind but you can have weapons that are just as good without the massive amounts of grind hours.

The look and style of the weapon is the benefit, not the stats so much. While my Rainbow Shortbow may be similar in stats to your boring wooden looking shortbow of non-Rainbow, mine looks better. Because, well rainbows…

Oh and that Sunrise greatsword effect is really cool.

Maybe there are more that haven’t been revealed, but the dagger and pistol legendaries I’ve read about have not been very impressive so far…

I honestly thought you were joking. Turns out, you’re not.

Are there any regular Mist groups running? I would love to roll with a group possessing even a minimal amount of coordination and communication.

I’m pretty leery of their approach to “balance” after seeing how they handled the latest ranger thing. So (supposedly, no one has ever seen this other than the dev claim) there was an animation glitch with shortbow’s 1 attack, so they slowed it down about 7%. You’d think, were they not doing some sort of carefully calculated balance pass, they’d increase the base damage to keep the DPS the same, but no. They just lowered a weapon’s DPS by an arbitrary amount to fix an animation issue.

Yeah…

Nerfing a weapon’s damage because it’s out of line with an intended DPS mark would be perfectly reasonable. Nerfing it as a secondary effect, not so much.

This is a list of basic guidelines that someone wrote up for Stormbluff Isle:

In general, find a smart group or commander and follow them around. That’s the best way to learn. What you add to the group kind of depends on your class.
