I would also love to do some guild sPvP. I played a few matches with random groups and it was pretty hit or miss, but it was still quite fun.
I wish ANet would get serious about the botting. They are everywhere in massive numbers. It’s terrible for the game, imo, not only for the obvious reasons but because I think there’s a psychological effect of being the mark in a world where everyone else is cheating. It makes the legit player feel like a chump.
I logged in to play today, realized everyone around me doing the events was a bot, and logged back out again. The game felt sad, like an untended garden.

Speed/Teleportation hack is out, more and more people now exploit in WvW. Unless they fix this ASAP PvP in GW2 is going to die.

Ugh, I haven’t personally witnessed this yet in WvW, but this is troubling.
I had seen someone teleporting between harvesting nodes in the human newbie area though.
Top 5 post at Reddit Guild Wars. Consider it reported.
Oh, that’s awesome - thanks!

Finally! They added two-way mobile authentication. Activate now or regret later.

Where is dongle option? Problem with a smartphone app is that it is very possible to lock yourself out.
Yes, that is what I meant.
Cool. Maybe we can dedicate a specific night for PvP, like we do with the Tue night WvW. Any days better than others?

Just be aware that obtaining the commander icon means nothing more than that someone accumulated 100g and purchased the title. Over the last week, we have had a number of new commanders on the server that are simply clueless at best, mercenary at worst.
I followed one commander around the other night to see what exactly they were doing after giving orders to take X keep or Y tower. It turned out that the commander was not actually at the main fight, but was running around capping the sentry points or killing dolyaks for easy points and coin. Meanwhile, the main forces were getting shredded attacking reinforced points with overlapping siege fields of fire. The zerg kept waiting for the order to retreat from the fight, which never came. This went on time and again before it erupted into drama on the team and map channels.
Frankly, with the culling issue, orb hacking, and the invis mob bugs WvW is a mess. Last night, GoM managed to breach one of our reinforced gates without any visible siege equipment. There was no treb fire as I was on the gate the whole time and never received siege damage. Despite pushing them off the gate multiple times, suddenly the gate came down and we were routed. I do not know if it was a hack or more if this invisible mob nonsense, but either way it was total bullshit.

For me, Mondays and Wednesdays, though not for next week : (
There’s some suggestion in the forums that some commanders are plants (and not the Sylvari kind) for other teams, deliberately leading everyone astray to open up attack routes for the enemy. With the free server transfers this doesn’t seem unfeasible either.
Commanders need a community rating system. Being an effective commander earns you commendation points. Being a dick does not (or gets you demerit points) and hence everyone learns to ignore you.
But yeah, they really need to get a handle on the botting, hacking and other cheating that’s starting to appear. I’ve also seen people teleport past reinforced gates.
The commander system is all kinds of stupid. What it needs is to be removed and designed in a way that makes sense and has something, ANYTHING, to do with PVP.
The solutions to commanders is to know who you’re following - as it’s been rightly pointed out, the commander icon only means someone spent 100g to buy the book. So yeah, it might involve spending some time when you find a commander, checking him out. And if he has stupid tactics or isn’t involved, well then move on.
I would be willing to bet that over time the commanders that know what they’ll doing will develop a reputation, and the other ones will lose theirs. There are plenty of people on every server the WvW enough that it’ll become obvious soon enough which commanders have a clue and which don’t.
Speaking on WvW, the not-rendering-tons-of-stuff issues with the client are insane. I battled about 3 hours last night and I saw maybe 10% of the enemies I was fighting - you can target them, sure, and sometimes you see the red circle on the ground, and a marker above their head, but it seems like all the client is rendering is Ranger pets. In fact, after about 2 hours of the evening, most of the group I was with stopped rendering, and I followed a floating commander icon around. I hope they work those issues out.

I agree in principle, but it seems to me that most players in WvW are dabblers or people who jump on the bandwagon when they check the scoreboard and see we are ahead. They see the blue commander icon and just mindlessly follow it around, and are not going to invest their time in knowing who to follow. After getting wiped out a few times, they log off and we end up being heavily outmanned. For most of last night we had the outnumbered buff.
Not only should the commander system be reworked, but I would add the orbs, fortification guards and sentries to the list.
Nice, and now bots can self-rez themselves! I witnessed it in Melchor’s Leap yesterday. Two bots (rangers, of course) were dualboxing and when one of them died (died completely, not just got downed), it rezed itself to full health about 5 seconds after the fight ended.
And zone events were bugged in both Melchor’s Leap and Straits of Devastation. In the zones that have nothing but events, I would expect zone events to be fixed long time ago. It sucks to spend hours doing all the pre-requisite events only to see the Pact’s final attack get stuck 100 yards away from the start.
In these two zones it seems the only players I see are either bots or karma farmers constantly porting between 2-3 working events. Disappointing. Final zone events need to work (duh!) and they need to give like 10 times rewards of the regular events, otherwise no one even bothers to work towards them.
I really love this game and appreciate a lot about it but it REALLY wasn’t ready for release. The amount of exploiting, botting, hacking, etc. is ridiculous, I have never seen anything like it in any of the MMOs I played. The two most “famous” things about GW2 - Events and WvW - are bugged to a ridiculous degree.
I don’t even WvW anymore because it’s just stupid with all the stuff that’s going on.
And don’t get me started on Trading Post and the “economy”.
Knowing ANet and the quality of their released stuff, I wouldn’t recommend using anything in beta “at your own risk” state. Especially security related.
Thank you but no.

The other day I was roaming around Cursed Shore counting the bots - I stopped at 25. Meanwhile, the karma farmers were ripping some players in map chat because these folks, who were new to the zone, actually had the audacity to intiate one of the dynamic events out of sequence from the way the karma farmers want to run things - over and over and over. Seriously.
