If those’re the hidden trick or treat bags around Lion’s Arch, last night’s patch notes said they were removed.

You can get a slightly higher non-candy-corn drop rate from the personalized treat bags you can get by giving candy corn to the sugar-crazed kids running around lion’s arch, by the way. I figure that’s probably not all that obvious…

Live team rookie mistake #1 :)

Mad King’s Labyrinth zone spawns champions frequently – say 1 per 10 minutes – with associated chests that drop on average 1 exotic item per pull. I got 2 in one chest myself. Turns the exotic item drop rate on its head, and will mess up the economy, such as the economy is, anyway.

Ok so i haven’t played gw2 for about a month and now it wants to download 9,300 files. What the hell is wrong with arenaNet? Is this another one of those redownloading the entire client bugs or did they really do like 10gb of updates since i played?

They patched it already to limit it to one chest per day per location (so 5 per day in the Labyrinth). And my luck must suck. I did about 5 chests in there and got only 1 exotic the whole time.

The Halloween update was 7000+ files, so that number sounds reasonable. That was about a 500 MB patch. I guess it was a lot of artwork.

Ah you’re right. It starts off slow and is kind of misleading to its eventual total size, but it only turned out to be 800ish mb. Must be very small files.

Has anyone been able to complete the clocktower jumping puzzle? It is so hard to run with everyone trying to do it and other character models blocking the view. Also my charr model keeps getting stuck on the stairs causing me to fail the event. After 26 attempts I think I am going to put this in the too hard poorly designed department.

Evidently some people have managed it, but after a mere two attempts I saw I would be in for a lot of frustration due to getting hung up on bits of stairway, so I’ve given up.

The clock tower is probably the least fun thing I’ve done in this game, beating out getting disconnected at the end of the EB jumping puzzle after spending 2+ hours to figure it out. Camera issues and tons of other player models making it impossible to see where I’m going on a timed mission are horribly frustrating.

If I could do the clocktower puzzle alone and without the reset timer between runs it wouldn’t be so bad. In fact, I’d venture to say it’d be awesome. Wish I could make that ‘characters don’t appear on screen’ thing from WvW happen in the jumping puzzle because it’d make the puzzle way easier.

People have done it, and I advise you to watch a youtube video of the path before you do it because there are some tricky jumps in there that you won’t expect (like jumping down when you feel like you should keep going up).

At the end you get a lv 80 exotic pair of shoes called ‘mad king’s slippers’, regardless of your character’s level. I believe they are soulbound on aquire but you can re-run the puzzle to get the shoes on all your characters… if you’re that crazy.

Neat thing I just learned (this may be old news) - add -testVeritcalFov to the shortcut for the executable and you’ll get a widescreen-specific FOV. Works a treat!

Yeah, doing the Clocktower jump puzzle with other people definitely makes it much harder than it is. The biggest thing that helped me with completing the puzzle, was just doing it a bunch of times so I could get familar with the early layout. After awhile I started phasing out other people and just timing my jumps. It also helped that I skipped certain platforms that people always tried to jump to. Most people usually fail a few jumps after the part where everyone is bunched up waiting for the platforms to show. If you can make it past that part, it just becomes a game of memory as you won’t have many people who’ll be blocking your view.

Also, I found it helps to turn off the player names in the game options. I did it as a human though, its probably worst for Asurans/Norns/Charr. I never got frustrated at the puzzle, each failure just made me more determined to get it completed. It took me about 25-30 tries to get it though.

I’ve got a dumb question: How do I change the email address my account uses? The profile page just lets me change the PW.

Mark, I believe you have to contact support services and have them make the change. Here is one link that may be of assistance:

Finished the event dungeon. The rewards that everyone gets aren’t bad, but holy shit did I get bent over on the chest after the boss fight. 2 loot bags that random mobs drop and a Black Lion pick. The bags contained 3 onions and 1 incandescent dust. I’m level 80.

Yeah crap rewards from the event chest. They learned their lesson from the labyrinth champions :)

Except that it also drops exotics. Or, in my case, a crap green and a tonic…

I really think the chests in this game are too random. It’s a little irksome when someone gets 100x or more a reward than the rest of the participents.

At least the dungeons pays out huge XP the first time you run it, so there’s that.

Guess the Mad King has powers that reach into the real world. He’s done brought the game down!

Their entire network seems down. The forums have vanished as well.

I’m guessing it crashed because everyone jumped online for the event, haha.

The Mad King’s chest dropped nothing better than greens for me. So sad.
