That is a nice purse. But given how easy it is to break down useless loot on the fly, and then send the materials to the component bank, I’m almost never hurting for personal inventory space in Guild Wars 2.

That’s the downside to playing on US server I suppose, I also missed it. Is that the first time GW2 has run an event (well, the final stage) at a very specific time? Usually these events cycle over a 24 hour period so that everyone has a chance of being involved.

Weren’t there specific events in the Halloween stuff? I missed all of that, but I was told the Mad King broke the fountain in Lion’s Arch. I imagine that was an event.

I always wind up with a pile of stuff in my inventory that I forget to sell, equipment I picked up that I can use in a level or two but not just yet and junk I can’t break down because I ran out of salvage kits and keep forgetting to buy more. I need all the inventory space I can get. Either that or I need to be able to mail myself salvage kits.

Edit: Yeah, the mad king busted through the fountain in lions arch - that was a one time event. This event had several one time only parts too, the initial invasion of LA etc.

If someone in the group is at tier 1, it will create a tier 1 fractal. This fractal will not advance the fractal rank of the tier 5 player. They’ll get loot, which is nice, but not move up their fractal rank. So, some higher tier players are already only grouping with other high tier players.

Whoa, I didn’t know that. That does suck. I’ve seen people broadcasting for specific fractal levels and I assumed they just didn’t understand how it works. Seems I was the one who didn’t understand how it works.

I was quite lucky. I participated in the Ancient Karka event from the start to (almost) the end with no issues. However, right when we started to fight the Ancient Karka in his lair, I got kicked off with a weird “wrong password” error (I’ve seen this once before).

I logged back in immediately and the Ancient was dead, and the chest was there. However, I was able to loot it, so I got all the goodies. The chest despawned less than a minute later.

It was only later I realized I logged back in to a completely different instance that just happened to have killed the Ancient. If I’d been randomly put in an instance that killed it 5 minutes earlier, I would have been out of luck.

Incidentally, you can purchase that Ancient Karka Shell accessory from a vendor in the new zone, at Canach’s Folly. It’s 1000 Karka Shells, though, so get busy (and the accessory is listed as Unique so maybe you can’t have a matched set on one toon).

I believe MrPerson is right, that the fractal level is set to the minimum of all members individual levels. So if the two dudes mentioned above grouped, they would be in a level 1 fractal instance.

I wound up with 2 exotic wands - was able to sell both of them for about 5g so I’m not complaining.

A couple guys got Dawn and Dusk from the chest - like winning the freaking lottery there.

Well, it happened to me too- 2 hours of trying to get invites onto overflow servers and then going through the quests. We got up to pulling the boss to the nest when the servers came down. Such bullshit.

Basically, if I ever pulled something remotely like that on our live servers I’d be making preparations for not having a job in the morning. But hey, the games industry may be different.

Fractal’s are awesome, but Anet overestimated how generous some gaming populations are. I just love having fun, but as suggested, a lot of the LFGs are already listing minimum ranks. If you are 1, it’s getting harder to find a group.

As for the Ancient Event, it was fun and some of the overflow servers never made it through it. You can’t do that event without a full load. I think they need to think about making events at least a week long though. This 3 day stuff, with the first day and a half filled with quest breaking bugs, plus people having to work in and various time zones… not sure why you have to cram that many things in such a short time frame.

Yeah, I’m liking them a lot more than the previous dungeons. They’re better suited to the mechanics of the game, and feel less as if Yackety Sax should be playing. There are some rough spots (the dredge mining suit is MUCH harder than the ice elemental, for example, and the swamp is not my cup of tea at all) and some of the fight mechanics could benefit from providing more information to the players as to what’s expected, but on the whole they’re the most entertaining PVE content in the game.

The fractal tier thing needs a rework though, to prevent dividing people who want to run the instance.
