The extras in the deluxe edition are just junky stuff that nobody really needs?
Really trying to avoid GW2. I think I spent/wasted over 10,000 hours in GW1.

Pretty much, but you do get an elite skill as well. Also, since it’s the same price on the GW2 site as the regular edition is at GMG you might as well buy the deluxe edition right from the source.
That’s three hours a day every day for 10 years. I think you’re probably right to leave the sequel until you’ve retired. Unless you already have - then what’s the problem :)

The Karka events as a lot of fun and had high rewards. I’d love to see both kind of events.
The Christmas, err winter even is longer and access to the game, pvp, pve, even the jumping puzzle, are a lot more inclusive. I’d recommend you give it a try. Winter Wonderland, that jumping event, I can actually do with several attempts. I am not sure a year would be sufficient to get me through Clocktower.

It has been awhile since we organized a guild outing in WvW. I know this is a busy time of the year, but are folks interested in kickstarting our one-night-week romp through Eternal and/or the borderlands?
If we can not get a larger romp organized, a handful of us are in WvW on a nightly basis. We win some battles, and we lose some. Very low-key. Please join us if you are around!

Nb: I’ve never played an MMO in my life. Never. Not WoW, not Everquest, not SWtOR. So please humour my imbecilic questions.
What is levelling up for in this game? I don’t seem to be gaining anything other than a new number at the bottom of the screen. I’m used to levelling up allowing me to add to my skills or abilities.
Each level gives you a skill point, which gives you more diversity with buying abilities and can be used as currency for end game content. You also keep leveling once you hit 80 for additional skill points, the number just doesn’t go above 80.
You also get a new trait point for every level beyond 10 for a total of 70 when you reach level 80. Traits help you fine tune your character in various areas (DPS, survivability, etc…).

Thank you. Where do I go to spend skill points? The game just feels so overwhelming. I took the gate to Rata Sum and sort of fled back to Soren Draa. It looks incredible. I just need to know how it works.

Hit H and bring up your Skills tab, you can spend skill points to acquire new skills for the 6-0 slots there, once you’re sufficient level (I think it’s L5 or something?).

Anyone around level 15 on EB? Wouldn’t mind hooking up for some questing (eventing?) at some point.

Lion’s Arch, for a new to MMOs player is remarkable and terrifying and awe inspiring. It actually felt like arriving in a new amazing city for the first time. Lore Question: where is the actual arch? I can’t seem to find it.

They don’t have to be around your level! Hooray gw2 downleveling. They just have to like you.

Probably underwater. We’re actually wandering around a rebuilt LA – constructed on the ruins of the original city. Swim around Sanctum Bay and you can see plenty of rubble and wreckage.
A dragon did it.

Zuwadza, give a shout out in guild chat when you are on. If you want to take a tour of WvW, we have a few folks on most nights. You can participate at any level. Your stats will be autoleveled to 80 in WvW, but you will only retain the skills and traits you have earned. It can be a good way to actually gain levels if things are hopping.

Two things:
1.) Can I get an invite to the Qt3 guild please? My character is Not Quite Real.
2.) How does one find the lore/story in this game? So far, it’s sort of just assumed I know it.
For anyone running the Wintersday dungeons, someone (over at Reddit I think) discovered you can make endless tonics out of the event mini frames. Combine
50 magic glue
50 enchanted stuffing
1 glittering dust
1 mini frame
in the Mystic Forge.
If this works you get an endless tonic corresponding to the frame you threw in (so if you threw in the Princess Doll frame you’d get endless Princess Doll tonic). If it doesn’t work, you get a present which gives you 3 (I think) tonics of the type you’re trying to make, and the mini frame you threw in - so you can try again. The tonics, just like the frames and Wintersday minis, are account bound.
Since at this point it appears you will only be able to make 2 minis (due to the limit on Magical Cogs) you could in theory turn the other 3 frames into tonics. However… people have reported that the Mystic Forge accepts these endless tonics, and there is speculation that 4 of the endless tonics would give you the endless whatever-it-is tonic that can turn you into any of the Wintersday minis (plus a present-carrying Dolyak). Since tonight is the first chance for anyone to have 4 tonics, I’m sure we’ll find out tomorrow if that works.
That’s the reason for the price escalation in magic glue and enchanted stuffing in the last 12 hours.

So, I just started playing this again, and I’m confused about the collections bank - I have been going over my toons and sending crafting mats to from their bank to my new toon, but it seems its global? Is that really so?
If so - that means I’ve been managing the same damn ore and wood around and around the last hour…
