Argh, already bought. My willpower is nothing. Put a “sale price” on something I barely even want and I can’t help it.
Downloading now. What server are the QT3 folks on?
EDIT: Dammit, giaddon. 5 minutes sooner…

It’s $30 if you haven’t used the CAGROCKS code.
Whoop, too late.
At $30 I decided to take the plunge. How do I get into the QT3 guild on Ehmry Bay? I’ll probably play it mostly as a solo RPG but I don’t mind having whatever guild progress stuff I happen to run across going to QT3.
Yes, someone, need an invite! My toon is named Caramori, asskicking level 2 Norn Thief.
Post your account/game name here or you can try messaging someone in-game with invite privileges. I think the format is something like yourname.####, though just one of your character names would probably work too.
Well, I just named myself ineffablebob. Only have one character so far.
Edit: Got the invite, thanks!

Can I get an invite too? Kildar DeathStalker. Kildar2049
Thanks :)
So, I did a guild bounty mission with my WvW guild last night and I don’t think I’ve ever experienced that sort of coordination, certainly not in an MMO, before.
We got about 20 people from the guild and recruited another 10 or so as temporary guild members to do the mission. ALL of us had to get on teamspeak, with two “commanders” forming two teamspeak channels of 15 members. Everyone was then given a zone to go hunt down the NPC we potentially needed to kill. It took us about 20 minutes to confirm every NPC’s location before we actually started the mission and given which NPC’s we had bounties on. After that it was a relatively trivial affair of going to the locations and killing the NPCs (they die pretty quickly).
I really liked the fact EVERYONE had to communicate and work together in order for the mission to go smoothly, since you’re only given 15 minutes to do so once you start the mission.
This leads me to a concern MANY people have about the guild missions; smaller guilds are pretty much screwed. Not only does it take a ton of influence to activate them, but you need a bare minimum of 15-20 people to have a good shot at completing them. And that’s just for Tier 1. Tier 3 forces you to kill 6 NPCs in 15 minutes, with each NPC needing at least a party of 5 to kill.
What makes it worse is that guild missions give out guild commendations, which you can use as an alternative to buy the new ascended gear that normally would cost 40 laurels (40 dailies!) + 50 ecto (20 gold?). Not only that, guild missions have been confirmed to give you chances at PRECURSORS. You really can’t afford NOT to do the guild missions, which again screws smaller guilds.
Hopefully Anet does something about this soon because a lot of people are pissed judging on the post on their forums with 1700 angry replies.
I have no idea who is who, but whoever helped me finish my story last night, THANK YOU! So glad to have that off my chest.

QTT hasn’t done any of those yet (still upgrading), but I definitely think the first or even second level is doable with fewer then 10 people. Your guild choose to track down every possible bounty before even getting your targets (thus the twenty minutes spent tracking them all down). That’s certainly the failsafe method.
Having not done any yet though, I think it probably would’ve been quicker for you guys to flood the zone of the first bounty with 30 people, find and kill, then repeat for #2, and I think doing that is viable for smaller numbers of people.
IE/ 15 possible bounties took 30 people 20 minutes to track down (aka 20 minutes for 2 people to track down one bounty and stick to it) -> 1.33 minutes for 30 people to track down 1 bounty if optimally spread out
Now, this probably would not work for the L3 bounty event though (taking too long to find one person might screw with the timeline), which probably would require a large guild and the strategy your guild chose to employ would be better (guarantees success).

Thanks for the invite. I’m still acclimating myself to the game, hope I can run with you guys soon.

I’m part of a really small guild (5 people who play once or twice a week), and I’ve been somewhat disappointed to hear about the costs and people members required for these (short of recruiting outsiders). I had hoped they would scale down a little more, but I understand ANet has to pick something as a minimum baseline. There’s still plenty of content in the game for us to do together (mainly dungeons and WvW). I also wouldn’t complain in WoW if my guild was too small to do 10-man normal/heroic raids (with or without LFR), so I’m trying to look at this the same way.

Bounties should be finished at this point, there was 3 hours left on the build time last I checked.
I’ll be around later to fire this off if we can scrape some people together to run it.
I think you still have to queue the actual bounty. I think its 12 hours to build? Also, we should scout for where the bounties are, before we activate the mission so we have the full 15 minutes or however long a guild bounty lasts to kill the bounties.

Bah, you’re right–12 hours and counting. We have Economy 5 going now as well, so Guild Treks will be an option in the future too. From what I’ve read, those are potentially the easiest to accomplish.
Yeah, we’ll need to wait 2 weeks for guild treks though, since it also requires 30 of the new guild currency, of which we can only get a maximum of 25 a week right now (more likely 15 or 20 for us, since I doubt completion of the L3 bounty is feasible for us).
More time to save up influence.
EDIT: Oh wow it’s a 10 day long upgrade for Economy 6 (not affecting us anyway due to the other currency constraint) and another week for the Guild Trek unlock. Yeah, it’s a long upgrade path.
Awww, damn! The GW2 small group PVP is off the hook, yo! Too bad there’s no gear grind to keep me going.
The website for the March patch is now up, which is due on the 26th.
A hybrid army erupts through fiery portals in the Shiverpeaks. A Molten Alliance between the dredge and the charr Flame Legion has created a force powerful enough to massacre any who stand in their way. One settlement, one homestead at a time, they’re wiping out all resistance. The razing has begun.
In Flame and Frost: The Razing you’ll meet the norn Braham and Rox the charr, two Tyrians who fervently believe in doing what’s right, no matter the risk. Join Braham and Rox in a desperate battle to defend their homelands from annihilation in the third installment in this four-part series!
This is the patch that will finally give us some meat to chew on as the Living Story (finally) goes into full swing.
FYI, we’re probably going to try to run a guild bounty event sometime this weekend. We’ll be needing plenty of warm bodies to scour the map!
