Awesome guide to Mesmer play here. Not only is it a great, in-depth guide to the Mesmer, it’s a pretty good introduction to the way GW2 combat is set up in general (it will help you look at all the classes in a similarly in-depth way).
Game Update Notes for today’s huge WvW patch are now out.
Reduced quickness from 100% attack speed to 50%.
Probably one of the biggest skill changes yet. Will decrease burst damage for a lot of classes.
Daily and monthly laurels can be obtained through either PvP or PvE achievements. You cannot earn additional laurels from doing both, players can simply chose to do one or the other. They will still receive all other normal daily/monthly rewards should they chose to do both PvE and PvP achievements.
This is a great change and might actually get me playing SPvP more to do my daily!
Super Adventure Box is amazing. That is all.
Good god that’s fantastic.
This is the kind of April Fools event I can enjoy. Yes, it’s a joke, but it’s also fun on its own.
The Super Adventure Box is a fun little lark, but man is all that platforming annoying. Was fun to do once, but I don’t see myself going back more than once or twice.
I rather like the platforming. It’s the combat that’s a pain, since I’m used to having ranged attacks as an Elementalist.
(Might also help if I try to go in with a group instead of soloing it.)
It makes other MMO updates look pretty poor. I agree about not doing it too many times but it was fun the first time around.
Anyone else think the holiday event team and the regular update team should swap jobs? =p
Halloween, Christmas, and this are all highly acclaimed, while the regular update team has given us Karka-roll, and about 30 minutes of “new” gameplay every month via the life-supported Living Story
Just an update on the QTT Guild:
We currently have two types of Guild Missions unlocked (Guild Bounties and Guild Trek). If you want to read more about what the various Guild Missions are, and what sort of rewards they give, can read so here. We’ve been mostly running the guild missions on Sundays, but if anyone needs it done at some other time, please suggest so, either through here or message one of us in-game. Currently the two active people who can start and queue missions are omsion.7059 and Jammypack.3018.
Also, if anyone needs some sort of Guild Boost type stuff (+Karma, +XP, +Magic Find, etc.), please let us know so we can queue for them.
We also have a Guild Bank, so feel free to take whatever you need from there. You can usually find the Guild Bank near the regular Bank in any of the major towns. If anybody needs help with dungeons or whatever else, don’t hesitate to ask one of us in-game.
If anyone still needs an invite, please reply here or in-game as well.
I’d love to jump into one of the guild missions with you guys. So you’re saying there will be something this Sunday? Is it usually at a specific time?

We’ve only really just started running it on Sundays. The reason we’ve been doing it Sundays is that since we’re a pretty a small guild in terms of active players, its pretty hard to get a guild bounty done (even the Tier 1). So we’ve joined up with some of the other guilds to sort of work guild bounties together. If you want to know more about that, this thread here has more info. The guild/person that has been doing this coordinated server wide guild bounty thing has usually run it at around 8:30 - 9:30 P.M. EST I believe. The guild trek one, can usually be done by just 2-5 members of the guild, so we won’t have to do any coordinating with other guilds.
I assume Tom has level 80 characters, but in case anyone else is reading this stuff about guild missions - be aware you can’t help unless you can get to the right spots. My highest is low 50s, and has large areas of the higher level areas unexplored. I was online during the activities recently, but was unable to help, and I expect that would be the case for most lower level characters.
Hey, wait, what? Guild Wars 2 is normally so good about not gating people out of content or social play because of their level! That’s not the case with guild missions? Actually, it sounds like it’s a matter of geography. That’s the case with instanced dungeons, I suppose.
I do have a level 80, but I was hoping to spend some time with my thirtysomething necromancer. Rats. At any rate, I’m still looking forward to doing this on Sunday.

More of the case of getting to where the bounty is after they have been found. Normally this is done by shouting out the WayPoint in guild chat to inform everyone to port over to help with killing the bounty. Since the bounty could be in a zone where low level have not gone into (e.g., level 40s probably have not explored Fireheart Rise), the low level migth have problem getting there. Even level 80s are not spared, as not everyone have done 100% map completion. And if just so happen the bounty is near a WP you have never opened, you will have to trek there by foot from the nearest WP)

OK, so we’re probably going to run a Guild Bounty (and maybe a Trek) tonight at around 9EST.
Depending on which 2 targets we get (2 easy ones or >=1 hard one), we will either attempt to
A) complete the bounty
B) just kill the easier of the pair for the rewards
I’m going to try to log on for this.

Does this Guild stuff work with guesting? I’m in the QT3 Guild but on Jade Quarry.
