Shouldn’t be a problem. The only thing you can’t do as a guest as far as I know is WvW.

I can confirm it works as I’ve guested to Ehmry Bay in order to do QT3 guild bounties.
This went pretty well last night, I thought. Ended up doing the bounty two or three times until we got lucky and both were in zones that most people could reach. Then the trek, which we finished with a good 5 minutes to spare. We had 5 or 6 people participating, which was just barely enough…a few more would have made the bounty a lot easier…but we made it.

The guild trek made me realize how little exploring I did on my main 80. Once I maxed I was so burnt out on him that I started leveling alts.
Since I don’t have blocks of time for dungeons it didn’t seem that there was any other endgame at 80 (i didnt even finish the main story) but the guild stuff was fun and probably worth playing him a bit more.

I have the same problem. I have the entire world explored, but it’s spread across eight characters. Even the character that has done the most is still missing the entirety of several zones. Perhaps some day I will finally get a 100% world completion on one character.

Is it safe to say there’s considerable more interest [aka ability for people to be available] on Friday nights than Sunday then? I guess that will be the primary time going forward.
Guild bounties are basically luck based on what you get. Getting the weekly reward is easy - you just need to be present for the kill of any one target. That’s why we kept re-running those, someone new showed up every 10 minutes or so, so we kept re-running to get everyone rewards (3 in total). Amusingly, we got as a target the same bounty in all three runs. Poor Felix, getting pounded every 15 minutes.
We didn’t actually try too hard to complete a bounty until the last run, due to picking up a particularly easy pairing. We definitely don’t have the numbers to do more than the first tier unless we get 6 people on Sunday to participate in multi-guild bounty organization. You don’t get any additional personal rewards for the harder tiers, just the guild gets more merit.
Lots of explore mode dungeons are really “fast” these days - they’ve effectively been “solved” or weren’t that difficult in the first place. Citadel of Flame path 1 takes about 10-15 minutes at a leisurely pace, for instance. Plenty of others are 30 minutes runs as well. Though of course there still are longer ones.
It’s kind of interesting how ANet intended story mode to be the “casual” dungeon, and it turns out quite a few explore mode dungeons are considerably easier.

I’m thinking of starting up guild wars again but my old guild died. Who do I contact to get an invite to the q to 3 guild. Seems like I can guest on the server for PVE at least.
I’m kind of sad I missed out on the guild activities, although I’m sure having my highest-level character at 45 might have been problematic. Maybe next time.

ArenaNet is doing another round of Guild Wars 2 trial weekend where you can play it for free. Linky for more info about the trial weekend. Note that while you can get the trial keys now and make an account, the trial weekend won’t start till the 19th of this month (April). Apparently if you were in the previous trial weekend, those will get reactivated as well.
Here are some direct links to some of the sites. Most of them seem to require you to register to grab a key though.

Anyone craft (or crafting) a Legendary Weapon? I had a brief thought about doing it, but then the sheer level of effort is putting me off. I believe it requires World Completion, like 500k karma and a bunch of other stuff on that link. Just wondering how insane this is to contemplate.

And that’s the “easy” stuff. Karma and world completion are straightforward in comparison to the 1000 gold or so in material costs (high tier crafting materials).
See http://gw2legendary.com/ for the full cost (underestimated abit since one component [Mystic Clovers] has a bit of RNG to it, while the site assumes 100% return) at current market prices.

Holy crap, I didn’t see the gold cost. I’m going to guess that is the massive bottle neck.
I’m feeling flush with my approximate 12 gold across all characters. I wonder what the real dollar value of 1000 gold is in gems.

The pursuit of a Legendary weapon is what put me off the game, ultimately. After some 360 hours in, I had 100% World Completion and several hundred gold, but realized after a couple weeks of chasing the Precursor that it was going to take another 300+ hours to find/earn it.
I rage quit, and haven’t fired up the game in over a month.
I didn’t even know about these. Damn. They look badass.
My info is a few months old so prices may be out of date (plus, wasn’t there going to be some sort of precursor scavenger hunt?) but insane is a good word to use.
The karma needs seem high, but the sad fact is, you need even more than 500k - more like a million! You also need 77 (I think) Mystic Clovers, which can only be created by the Mystic Forge - thing is, the recipe for producing them is only around 33% successful, and the ingredients for them include Obsidian Shards, which you buy with Karma. So you really need a ton more karma than it initially seems (actually you need around a million total!!). The recipe includes either Crystals or Philosopher stones, which you buy with skill points. So you need a lot of skill points to burn.
Now get out your wallet. That recipe above requires Ectos, so you’d need maybe 250 of them - to start. Also you need at least 250 of each T6 material (more of some, depending on which weapon you’re making). But you do get those from the Mystic Clover recipe when it doesn’t give you clovers. Which is why you do the clovers first. You also need 100 icy(?) runestones, which are 1g each. Plus a couple of recipes, that’s like 30g more. Plus the precursor (which most people used to buy - you can get it by throwing stuff into the forge but then you’re subject to the RNG). That would be a couple hundred gold more, depending on which weapon, of course.
Plus (as you mentioned) 100% world completion. Plus 500 PVP badges.
So…good luck!

I noticed Legendary Weapons on the Black Lion after I inquired. Many of them are available for between 1500-2000g with probably 1200+g of that actual cost. So for another 300-800 gold, you can just buy one of these suckers!

A couple of my friends are working towards legendaries (both Bifrosts), and it looks like the limiting component for them is going to be the T6 dust and the precursor. I haven’t actively been trying to get components and have already managed a Gift of Battle, Gifts of Exploration, and probably enough karma to buy the required pieces there as well. The precursor chase ties into one of my biggest complaints about GW2: all of the “cool” gear is locked behind RNG, be it legendaries or special items from the Black Lion chests. I dropped ~35 gold on Black Lion keys when they had the sale a month or so ago and ended up with nothing but useless trash.

Still a pretty good value if you got 360 hours of play for $60.

This is currently on sale for $40/55 because of the free weekend. I would recommend against the digital deluxe because it adds nothing you’ll miss and can be bought later on with gems.
