Well. You can reslot the major traits whenever, but doing a full respec to allocate your trait points differently requires a trainer visit.

Well, skills are permanent, you don’t get takebacks on them. But you tend to end up with more skill points than you need anyway (all the skill points in the world, the 75 from leveling to 80, and you keep “leveling” past 80 and getting skillpoints as well).
Traits - the distribution can be changed in town at the guy that sells you your trait book fairly cheaply, think maybe 10s at L80? You can change the individual major traits any time out of combat though.
Also, a tip related to the training manuals that are needed to unlock the next tier of traits - you can put a buy order on the trading post for cheaper than the vendor sells them for. Take advantage of fat fingered people =D
Yeah, you’ll have no shortage of skill points if you’re trying to pursue any sort of goal at 80.
Yeah as its been said, respecs are cheap and skill points are plenty. I did hit 80 last night and am only 40 skill points away (one tier 1 elite and one tier 2 elite) from having all my skills unlocked. That’s only having 100%'d fiveish zones. What I really love so far about GW2 is that all the “stuff” just comes in as you do whatever you like doing. PvE, PvP, exploring, crafting, it all give you exp, loot etc. I wanted to start looking at gear etc last night and wound up getting sucked into a new zone and completing events and hearts and trying to knock off my daily. About 5 mins before I had to log off for bed I remembered I wanted to look at gear lol. Ah well, maybe tonight!

So…uh…the additions to Super Adventure Box are considerably more difficult than the original three worlds.
World 4 (Rapids) actually isn’t too bad, I died a ton, but that was mostly trying to explore to find secretz (did not do a very good job at this, discovering just about one secret). Also, annoying owls that steal your hard collected baubles are introduced. The jumping puzzle portion starts to get a lot more interesting than the earlier worlds here as well.
World 5 (Pain Cliffs) is certainly appropriately named, and the difficulty scaling definitely hits a cliff wall here. The jumping portion gets even more involved, with the occasional interesting environmental interaction (awesome!), but that’s not the problem…considerably more (extremely clunky) combat is introduced as well, with swarms of enemies (ranged and melee, the latter who evade attacks and require 3 hits to kill).
And they went overboard with instalkill FUCK YOU ARROW TRAPs. The density of those fuckers in some areas is absurd. And let’s not even talk about that section that involves swarms of enemies and FUCK YOU ARROW TRAPs at the same time.
So I gave up on that, and decided to backtrack to the Shortcut Eagle that I had found earlier but did not utilize (wanting to see more - this was before FUATs become prevalent). Those that played through World 2 back in April (or even now) might recall the quite pleasant Shortcut Worm. Well, this time around, Shortcut Eagle is not so pleasant, being filled with things that also want to murderize you - this was to my considerable surprise. This was followed by a ragequit.
Thumbs Down.

ArenaNet giveth and ArenaNet taketh away.
Next weeks patch is looking good. Wonder what they’ve done to the bosses to make them “more fun”. Hopefully the LFG tool will work well.

I’m sure all the hardcore GW2 players are happy to hear the bosses are now “more dangerous than ever!”, but my casual 5-man group just finished all the story mode dungeons a week ago and was finally feeling like we had a handle on things. If they’re just upping the difficulty on every boss in the game, it’s going to be really disappointing to us as we finally felt like we were getting a hold on things so dungeon runs could be completed in 60-90 minutes instead of 2+ hours.
I hope what they meant to say is that they’re retuning the bosses, including bringing some of the more absurd encounters into line. One thing we all commented on was that the difficulty of the dungeons (and sometimes even individual encounters in a dungeon) definitely had a pretty wide range. The earlier ones especially had some very, very tough fights as I recall.

I’m pretty sure they’re just taking about the world bosses, not the dungeon bosses. The three they mention by name are all bosses out in the open world.

Yeah, the only open world bosses that aren’t alt-tab autoattack victories in a giant zerg are the Priest of Grenth in Cursed Shore, Balthazaar in Straits of Devastation, and Lyssa in Malchor’s Leap.
I finished up the map completion for Malchor’s Leap last night and I’m closing in on Cursed Shore. So far I think Orr is a blast if you’re roaming with people and knocking off events, but man it can be pure hell if you’re trying to traverse point to point solo. Hard to believe I’ve just passed 50% map completion. Still so many cool areas to go explore!

Oh, now that makes more sense. If they’re looking to do more revamps like Tequatl then that’s more understandable.
Hey Shellfishguy! Congratulations on hitting 80 so fast! I love reading the pure joy and excitement in your posts. I agree with everything your say too! ArenaNet is building an amazing world with so many fun little spots to explore. I always wander into some cool new event or environment every time I play.
If you are still looking into exotic gear, I recommend the Karma armor from the Temple of Melandru in the Cursed Shore. Most pieces have Soldier stats with focuses on power/toughness/vitality. It is a very good all around armor for a guardian, and can be used in a lot of builds. The extra toughness from the runes is great for learning new dungeons and boss patterns. The Temple of Melandru is also one of the easier temple events and is completed very often. After that, I really recommend buying an exotic weapon from the trading post. Filter for an exotic weapon and search for “Pearl”. Finally, you can fill out your build with trinkets (amulets/rings) from the Trading Post or from the Temple Karma vendors. Rare is fine, but skip to exotic if you can afford it. I hope that helps! At the speed you are playing, you might already be in full exotic.
In Lion’s Arch last night, I saw someone advertising for a server-wide run on Orr this weekend (Sunday, starting 1 PM Pacific).
Thanks, I just realized last night that I haven’t played another game in 25 days. I keep starting up Steam then remembering that I wanted to get something done in GW so I fire it up and before I know it I have to go to bed.
At this point I’m just three pieces shy of full exotics. I have the karma gear in most spots, with a chest piece I bought from the TC. I’m just shy of the karma for some temple legs, then I’ll need to buy a helm. The helm I want is from the sentinel set, so unfortunately its like 40g. I also picked up all exotic accessories from the temples and TC plus one ascended ring that I picked up with laurels.
I spent some time this weekend farming with the Frostgorge sound champ zerg. It seems to be a pretty nice way to gather up some loot, cash and crafting mats. Each round of champs is a straight 24-42 silver from the loot boxes, plus any items or materials you get on top of that. The main issue is keeping up, the zerg stops for no man!
I also managed to get my weaponsmithing up to 424 this weekend. Wasn’t too bad up to this point, I farmed almost all the materials myself. I spent maybe 1g buying some mats from the TC. It’s going to be a doozie getting to 500 though, either time or money wise. I prefer to farm what I can, so most likely time.
The guild [HOME] sponsored an event like this just before the weekend. They split into three groups and got all the pre-events done then had everyone converge for the final temple events. Plus we did the karka matriarch. It was an absolute blast. I’m glad to hear another one is coming. Hopefully by this weekend I’ll have the karma I need for the pants. I think I only need 10k more, so shouldn’t be too bad. That’s only 30-40 events.
As if I needed another excuse to love this game, I just won a code for 800 gems from watching the ESL sPvP finals last night. It was pretty fun to watch too. From what the casters were saying, it sounds like ArenaNet is ramping up support for the Esports scene surrounding GW2. One of these days I’ll have to dip my toes into the the various PvP modes.
Notes for today’s game update. Can’t wait to take a shot at the beefed up world boss encounters. Plus the start of the LFG tool rollout!
Wow the new Taco fight is just downright brutal. I heard that if you can get him to 75% and fire off the vigil megalaser you at least get a loot bag. But the two attempts I got in l didn’t even get that far. ArenaNet tweeted last night that Blackgate managed to down it, I’d love to see a video of how that went.

Here’s a video of Blackgate taking down Tequatl.
Wow that’s pretty damn impressive. Really good coordination.
