So I guess I missed ep 1. Is it worth the 200 gems to buy access to it, or should I just start at ep 2?

Is there anywhere you can see what episodes you’ve “Unlocked”? Just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss any or something dumb like that, but didn’t notice anything for that in the interface.

Thanks, looks like I’ve managed to keep up with them then.
I really should try to get into playing GW2 at some point. Had it almost since release and haven’t even gotten a character to level 20. Still trying to sign on just so I unlock these for the future though.

Yeah, I’ve missed 2 episodes then - I find this slightly annoying, even though I’m probably never ever going to play it.
I am in exactly the same position. :) It actually surprised me how much I was annoyed for missing something I was never going to play (realistically) anyway. :)
I missed Episode 3 and as of last night I could still “purchase” it for 0 gems while activating Episode 4. I don’t know how long that will be the case, so it is worth checking if you haven’t logged in during August.

I know this makes me sound grumpy but it’s annoying to have to remember to log in periodically and it’s annoying to not log in and lose free access to the content. Either way I’m annoyed!

Don’t they send you a reminder email when new content is live? I get one.
Nope. I searched my inbox and spam filter and I don’t seem to have gotten any. Maybe I opted out when I registered the account or something.

I do, but I have other things to do than log in whenever an email arrives (work, family and such) and I forget shortly after.
I understand the reasoning behind the system, but it still annoys me. All this accomplishes is that next time I log in, and see I’m missing chunks of the game, I’ll just close it down again.

That’s fine, because it means you’re not paying them anything. If you actually want to play, you’ll jump into the current chapter (which is always free) and then pay for earlier ones.

Sure, and the odds that I was going to play it anyways were always pretty slim. Its just the completionist in me that doesn’t like to miss out :-)

Me too, I’m not playing GW2 but I make sure to login every 2 weeks to get the free chapters. It’s the same reason why I look at appshopper and the amazon android store to get free apps every day even though I never actually use any of them.
This is really an addictive game. It’s the MMO equivalent of a Crash Bandicoot or Ratchet & Clank. You run around and complete little challenges and get small, satisfying rewards and a little bit closer to world completion.
Although I am getting a bit frustrated with WvW…I’m 2 POIs and a vista away from 100% completion and they’re in towers we never seem to go after on one little sliver of the map.
Try changing servers for a short period of time and pick one of the PvP servers that are in the ascendant. You should be able to change back.
Mmmm, I don’t think I quite want it bad enough to pay $50 for it.

Yeah, server swaps haven’t been free for probably over a year (early Spring 2013?).
I’d try playing on Thursday evening or Friday morning/afternoon when the scores are effectively decided and everyone’s in karma train mode. You can ask a commander if they can take over the ones you want as well, they’ll be more amenable at that time too.
(Also, Ehmry Bay took a nasty tumble in WvW population back in November)
As it turns out, I found a zerg running through the green area tonight and got my World Complete! Only took a year and change.
Now I can concentrate on the rest of the legendary grind.
